It's wild to me that you are claiming a book written like 2000 years ago was spoiled for you lol

There’s a lot of very cool indie bookstore owners on TikTok, one of the most amazing is Bettiespages from Lowell, Michigan. You can find other stores with #indiebookstore #bookseller
The Independent Bookseller did a printed map of stores a few years ago, here’s an electronic version:

I’m a high school English teacher, and my class is finishing our unit on The Great Gatsby right now. One of my all-time favorites! It makes me happy to read this. ☺️

Minneapolis is bookstore heaven! So many independent bookstores
My favorites: magers and Quinn (used book store), irreverent bookworm (used book store), and moon palace (new books).

If you like used books then Lowry's Books in Three Rivers, Michigan is nice. Another good used bookstore is Von's Bookstore in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Agreed. Reading is much more fun than displaying your reading in order to impress people.
I'm slowly divesting parts of my huge used book collection because (a) my Kindle replaces so much of it and (b) after eye surgery I can't comfortably read regular sized paperbacks. I donate to several local Little Free Libraries in town as they need refilling.

Yes. Good grief. Complaining about the Illyad being spoiled is like a satire of spoiler culture.

E-ink is fantastic. I need a bigger type size in my old age, and it really helps.

The Iliad is, what, 2700 years old? I think spoilers are fair game at this point. :)

A Room of One’s Own in Madison is a personal favorite of mine! There’s also a map of Midwest independent bookstores available that shows most/all of them; I picked it up at my local indie bookstore (formerly Bookends on Main, now Dragon Tale Books in a small town near Eau Claire) but it’s probably available online as well. It makes great wall decor too 😊

I was 100% not looking for validation (and, in fact, I did not ask if I was the only one; I affirmatively stated that I wasn't). I was genuinely curious about how others treat the ending of a book they were enjoying.
That said, if this post offends your moderate sensibilities, please remove it.

Homer’s works are on millions of peoples to-read list, and without them we wouldn’t have gotten books like, the song of Achilles, Circe, or any other of modern adaptations. Both of Madeline Millers books are on my To-Read list, but I wanted to read Homers works first.
It is also still heavily used in modern TV shows, movies, etc. just because something is thousands of years old, does not mean is not relevant.
The amount of books and film that is still based on these stories today, or books that simply draw influence from them such as this one, shows that this book is still being read over and over again.
