I certainly don't mean to disparage all Ukrainians, that's not my goal. But Nazis are a proud part of the ukrainian government and military and they openly glorify nazi collaborators. There are hundreds and hundreds of images of Ukrainians soldiers with nazi tattoos, doing the nazi salute, etc. The entire world openly reported on this for years but now that the Russians use that as a justification for their invasion, everybody in the west is trying to pretend that the whole thing never happened.

City infrastructure is very old, and much of it needs to be replaced. Because the city has an insufficient tax base, it can’t afford most of this work and needs to keep applying bandaid fixes because it can’t afford to deal with the root cause. It’s an unhelpful comparison to equate Baltimore city and county because of the many other differences, such as higher population density, lower median income, greater difficulty in establishing work areas due to traffic volumes, extent of paved/built area, occupational hazards like lead and asbestos being far more common in the city, etc. Sure, mismanagement plays a role, but it’s unhelpful to attribute everything to that.

Gawd damn! This is some Nextdoor level of petty complaining just to complain.
This is the kind of post I'd expect on the DC sub or on a HOA message board.

Fire departments also routinely do this to flush the lines to prevent buildup.
HumanGyroscope t1_ja0bq99 wrote
DPW could be hydrant flushing the waterlines.

You're not supposed to wear sweatshirts, and I wouldn't recommend doing that as a newbie (depending on your department).
OP I would just buy scrubs from Alko in Rosedale. I also have a pair of size S Cherokee navy blue scrubs you can have for free if you need them.

Moved here from Florida almost 5 years ago. But. I also am from jacksonville. Having said, if you have some "street smart" you'll be fine. I absolutely enjoy this city. Ive had to research where to go/hang out but just like any city that happens. I live downtown. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions!

The city government is the cause for the high water bills. They are mismanaged, inept, and negligent. Baltimore county uses the same infrastructure that Baltimore city uses and their water bill is 20% or less than ours. The city imposes a storm water management fee and yet can’t even process the sewage that is pumped directly into the sewage processing facilities. And if you were to open your eyes and read the reports of why, you will see it’s the management, or lack there of, that causes it. The best possible way to lower our water bills is to take it away from city control

Agreed, but I think if we’re going to progress forward as a city and not languish, we need to change that. If people are blank slate moving here, I want to lead them towards living a car lite or even car free life here and maximize their experience/life here.

We had a huge water main break on Hickory in Hampden. It took 4.5 months until it was fixed. Cars were frozen in the ice during Christmas. Thousands of gallons of water were wasted.
