>For those still a member of the catholic church, why?

I have no responsibility for what a bunch of free-love hippy priests did decades before I was born.

As a public school survivor, I am more concerned with the ongoing public school sex abuse scandals, which are 100 times as widespread as the Catholic Church sex abuse scandals of the twentieth century. There are sickening parallels between the decades-old abuse cases in the article and the ongoing abuse still happening in public schools today.

My daughter went to BSA if you have any questions. She’s not super academic (good grades but not amazing) and she absolutely thrived there. Also, lots of her friends there were very academic. Personally I loved the mix of people she got to be in school with and loved that the school is small - class sizes are usually fairly small. The teachers are in general amazing and at least for my daughter helped her find her confidence in subjects she struggled in. I can’t speak for city other than it’s great reputation - I think it’s a decision that’s going to center on your kid’s needs.

If you want an honest engagement, I have been convinced by the theological and epistemological arguments laid out by writers like the doctors of the church and have yet to see convincing disprovings of their writings. I am bound to a system that is deeply, deeply flawed but represents what I believe to be the legitimate body of the Church of Christ, who I think was the Son of God. I will go to church, and advocate for changes in the Church but as a believer in the Bible I'm obligated to attend.

We are living on the bleeding edge of a coming post apocalyptic world. Baltimore is so close to the edge of it we can see over the edge. Murders shootings carjackings and armed robbery thru the roof There are literally zombies walking the city, organized crime gangs running the city and you're flipping out over turn signals and double parking... You might need to check your privilege and see if you are part of the problem or solution

Parking. It’s either street or a bougie, secure, overly expensive garage (I caved and paid for the latter).

I didn’t expect this to be divisive (if that’s the right word?). I just really like driving around the city and going on spontaneous drives so I’d like a secure parking area, one block from my apartment :’)

Being from the other side of York Road where crime is high, I couldn’t believe that such nice big homes existed as a child. We would go trick or treating in this area along with I believe it was called 7 lakes and wow at such big well kept homes. It always felt weird that two sides of York Road could be completely different

Our expensive water bills. On one hand our water is really fucking expensive (hey $40/month in fees that used to be lower AND quarterly). Expensive water is like expensive gasoline, it hits poorer people the harder (on a % to income level). That said, more expensive water (and gas) should reduce consumption and help the planet.
