Studies suggest that the less well off you are financially the more you’re likely to focus all of your efforts on not being homeless and feeding your kids.

This starts with apathetic acts such as lack of turn signals, but then trickles into things like property crime and robbery.

I’ll say it and eat the downvotes.

Baltimore is a highly uneducated region. A staggering number of our citizens can’t be bothered to think about their yearly budgets, or how to meal plan, this is because of the inability to see anything more than what’s directly in front of their faces literally and metaphorically. Empathy is a skill that takes practice and cognitive awareness of others, something - lot of smart people are still really bad at. So using your turn signal is a very basic way to drive/communicate/live with empathy, which is just something a lot of people don’t have anymore.

I think we all pretended to care a little bit in 2019, and then all our psyche’s were irreparably fucked during all the shit that happened in Covid/trump

There’s a website, I can’t find the link but it should be in your on boarding, where you can order the embroidered branded ones but they will take ages to be delivered. I’d email your manager to let them know they won’t be here in time and just buy a pair in the right color from a local store or Amazon. And then email your recruiter to resend then link.

>Baltimore city students already get more funding in the state per student, by far. I'm fine with even more but if it's going to waste what's the point?

First of all it's not "by far." It's about the same as Montgomery Co. Second, the system was underfunded for several decades. Maryland had to be sued into properly funding Baltimore Schools in the 90s; and it's fallen short of the mandated terms quite a bit in the interim. You can't glean anything from state rankings alone.

>The school system in Baltimore City has been disgustingly mismanaged fiscally and administratively.

How much of it is fiscal mismanagement and how much of it is pushing a deteriorated system uphill?

As for the rest, I agree. Making it rain on cops is useless and destructive.

Deleting comments because everybody in the city subreddit disagreed with you just to preserve Internet points and to make it seem like you weren’t so horribly wrong (especially when the thread can still be accessed otherwise…) is possibly the saddest and most narcissistic things I’ve seen on here. And per reveddit this seems to be your MO, along with insults and ad hominem attacks.

They don't have their shit together so they can't possibly afford the bandwith to be mindful of the needs of others.

The lack of mindfulness transcends race, creed, and socio-economic status. There's people who are mindful, and there's people who are a fuckin' mess.

Now, let all the chaotic assholes out there tell me their life is totally under control and they just don't give a fuck because they're super tough and independent or something.

i'm guessing you personally prefer and are capable of taking your car everywhere, but what about the elderly, the blind, the epileptic, and the many other groups of people who are unable to drive but need to get around? do they just not get to live in your town? (or if so, do they just have to be housebound or dependent on asking favors of people to get anywhere?) public transit gives people independence and access to their community, there should be much more of it everywhere.

also like, how is having to see a bus different than having to see constant car traffic, cmon

Why not rent for a year and explore the city before buying? Or at the bare minimum, at least visit a few times and explore some neighborhoods.

Federal Hill and the surrounding areas are probably the best if you want a shorter trip.

Winning an election is completely different from running the office. Even when you’re in office, the only thing they can do is elect someone else, but all you’ve gotta do is spew the right bullshit come election season and incumbents almost always win.
