I really can't say. There are some questions that this raises, but if the alternative is to let the shopping center fail and loose retail for the local community, that's not great. I don't think anyone else is stepping up to revitalize the area.

Getting any investment in many neighborhoods is difficult. Is a less than perfect developer better than no one? Probably, but it is at the cost of 14 million in state and city money. Could that money be better spent to help the community?

omg people can only have live in one place?!?!?!!

dude people with money usually have multiple residences & chose to spend various amounts of time at their various houses. From his own description Waters still spends a good amount of time in Baltimore.

It seems really poorly modeled, I think they might have only based it off transit ridership in the zone of influence of the stations. Having termini at 695 / 83 in the north and 95 in the south would have created a major park and ride and opportunity at both ends, honestly in ways that no existing route in Baltimore realizes - the light rail is too slow and the existing subway doesn't have an easily accessible station from 695, you have to go to Old Court which is like 10 minutes of driving just off the beltway alone.

Amtrak does have delays sometimes but overall I’d say it is reliable. Most of the time the delays are minor (like 5-10 mins). In the ~3.5 years I’ve used Amtrak (usually one ride per week) I have had 2 or 3 major delays. One was due to a severe snow storm and in the other it was a summer storm that knocked a tree onto the tracks. The third time I can’t recall specifically. So I think you may have just had some bad luck. I always plan in some extra buffer (at least an hour) if I need to be sure I don’t miss something important at my destination

I would take a slightly less direct route by going south to Baltimore and then taking Charles to Franklin then Park. Franklin to Charles is a hotel and senior housing and a school if you cross to the north side

I used to live at 520 Park, and sometimes I'd also go to Centre from Charles.

If you are on a scooter or bike, you have a big advantage. The shuttle suggestion is also a good one.

You can also take the light rail to Centre? It basically stops behind 520 Park.

Yeah that’s not how it works. Blue Water Baltimore is a non-profit that does a great deal to advocate for improved water ecosystems. They are not the designated/official ombudsman charged with addressing all city sewage shortcomings. They do also receive occasional grants from state and federal sources (like this one for $92K to improve a specific runoff issue). Whoever said “Blue Water Baltimore gets paid to take care of this” was misinformed.

Blue Water Baltimore’s annual budget is under $3M, of which only around $500K came from state or federal sources; DPW’s water-related budget is around $400M, which includes over $100M just for storm water and another $100M+ for waste water management.

BWB has incidentally pushed forward/supported multiple lawsuits against various entities, including the city itself..

From what I heard at the meetings there were no other options. This area of Baltimore has been plagued with corruption my whole life, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was graft or a bribe. I’ve heard good things about Councilman Burnett so I hoped something good would come of this. Thank you for your insight.
