I’d suggest eBay. I started cleaning out my moms basement during COVID and have been getting about $500/ month. At first I was taking things to shops but then realized I could just download the app, take a photo of the stuff with my phone and upload it to eBay. Oddly enough, the same guy at GameStop or wherever who will offer you $1.50 for your game will probably be scrolling eBay paying three times that for the same game. Also with the ap they fill out most of the post for you based on similar items and you can print shipping labels at a discount. Only inconvenience is having to go to the post office a couple times a week (though at least you don’t have to wait in line) and making an initial investment in packing tape, boxes, etc. (though it is also a helpful way to recycle old shipping materials).

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackney_carriage

In a lot of areas a taxi license is called a hack license. Look up the etymology of hackney to get the first origin.

> The New York City colloquial terms "hack" (taxi or taxi-driver), hackstand (taxi stand), and hack license (taxi licence) are probably derived from hackney carriage. Such cabs are now regulated by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission.

And that will bring you to:

> The origins of the word hackney in connection with horses and carriages are uncertain. The origin is often attributed to the London borough of Hackney, whose name likely originated in Old English meaning 'Haka's Island'.

I'm not sure if it's specific to Baltimore, but when I lived in the area there was a specific hand signal people on the street would do for "I'm willing to pay a few bucks for a ride".

DC has a similar thing called "slug lines" at certain intersections for people to share rides out of the city.

Join a run club (there’s one every day of the week); go to charm city trivia, pick a spot, see if a random team will let you join (we’ve picked up several players like that).

Orient Express is solid, if you order off their sichuan menu. In MV, got a lot of opinions. I loved Allora, Ash bar is fun but over priced, always had soft spots for Cafe Fili and Indochine. Sammy’s Trattoria can be great. Can not be. Don’t sleep on Soups On. Baby on Fire is better than Dooby and Bun Shop fight me. Other people like Wet City and swear that I’m wrong about it. Minato and Aloha are there and will scratch an itch but there are absolutely better spots. Station North, Old Goucher, Remington, etc. are an easy bike ride and have a lot of really interesting spots.

No Land Beyond might be up your alley too if you're interested in table-top games. But it's ~2 miles north from the general Mt. Vernon area. They have events and a very casual vibe. Also, their drinks and food were great and so were the staff. As someone that likes video games and anime, this place was a great start at meeting people.
