Is this 101 Ellwood Apartments? I know they increased parking cost to 150$ so it sounds like it. That rent increase is a joke. They quoted me $2168 to renew me lease in Jan. Now the same apartment is listed for $2075 and 1 month free rent for new applicants. Apartment is still vacant.

You can definitely find something better.

>Someone else commenting here with a transportation background stated it best but I agree with their point that if there's no plan to fix parking or improve public transit it's ridiculous to expect Hampden residents to not oppose more development projects. Why would we want a less pedestrian-safe, less driver-safe, more congested community by choice? It's just not common sense to expect that of people. >

Because Hampden is largely self-contained. It meets almost all, if not all of, the requirements for the 15-minute city. It almost feels as a small city or town in and of itself with I83 and JHU as the boundaries. Obviously those are blurred, but it is one of the easier places to live in the City car-free or car-lite (1 per house instead of 1 per resident).

>I'm focusing on the zone parking issue because it feels achievable to me as a resident and it would improve the day-to-day lives of me and my neighbors. And I mentioned the parking lots because it's the only thing I see happening and I applaud that business for trying to improve the situation not because I think it's the optimal choice. Of course, I don't want to turn the neighborhood into a bunch of parking lots. The best option is a state-of-the-art public transit system but that's not going to happen anytime soon. >

Like it or not but by celebrating the Wine Sources decision you're absolutely advocating for turning the neighborhood into a bunch of parking.

I'm skeptical a parking permit solves much around the Avenue, but can respect that people would want it. I've not lived within a block or two of the Ave, but have lived in Hampden with/without RPP and haven't seen a huge difference so I understand I'm bias.

My take is that Maryland has a TON of highway for such a small state. And maryland keeps building new highway and widening old ones. It comes at the expense of maintaining the very heavily trafficked highways. I lived in Buffalo most of my driving life, and even with the snow ice and salt, 90, 190, 290 and 990 are in better shape than 95, 295, and 495.

They aren’t the greatest management company, but take a look at PMC. If you’re willing to move, they have a few properties in the Mt. Vernon area that are a short walk from grassy areas for your pup. We have a large dog that is frequently a “restricted breed” at most complexes, and they allowed her no problem. See plenty of pit bulls and other “restricted breeds” as well.

I dont know what their parking situation is like for all of their buildings, but I know their property on St. Paul has a garage you can pay extra for. The property I’m at doesn’t have parking, but I pay $140 a month for a garage that is less than a block away.

They have properties in other areas of Baltimore as well. I’m not 100% sure what their prices are like for a new lease, but we’ve rented with them for a few years, have very few complaints, and with annual rent increase are still paying less than $1600 for a 2 bed/2 bath.

I drive a tractor trailer and LOATHE this stretch of road. It will literally shake my trailer ( flatbed ) so much that I have to pull over and tighten my straps down, which is not fun on the shoulder of 95. ( Have to do it before till plaza because DOT does alot of stops past the plaza). Then drivers ride the middle lane and get over at the last minute to avoid the speed bump prior to exit. Uugghh!! I usually reduce my speed to avoid damage to leaf springs, shackle bushings and the like but yeah its horrible. Borderline criminal negligence. 95 work zones are no better near 695. Be safe, thanks for letting me vent.

I use the Maryland Highway agency service request website! It works. I requested they clean the area of I-95 near S. Caton Avenue, a crew came out to clean the litter. Our neighborhood has a woman who works with traffic construction, she got us this link for all the request. So far my clean up request and another neighbor’s new sign request were done. It takes time to do the picture and the request but it’s worth it to see improvement.
