This is exactly why our park walks have become quite limited. Our boys are very social and we've never had a problem, however they are quite big and dont like surprises. We have had a couple of close encounters with (illegally) off leash dogs and it's just not worth the risk. Latrobe, Riverside, Patterson....they are all full of people who's dogs have "excellent recall"

I don't agree we should have zoned parking passes that restrict parking to residents at certain hours. There are plenty of neighborhoods in the city that have it. Our Merchants Association actively blocks any efforts to get zoned parking and we have to absorb all the parking for the businesses which is not right. The businesses should provide parking for their patrons. The Wine Source is building a parking lot right now because it's the right thing to do and the #1 complaint from customers.

And until we have a better public transit system people aren't going to stop driving. I do support better public transit in Baltimore it would greatly improve things.

Incredibly walkable. My walks are usually from the Inner Harbor (near the Maryland Science Center) all the way to the University of Baltimore.

Takes around 1-2 hours to explore (if walking the straight shot) and there’s little side streets all along the way that’ll get you to restaurants and cafes.

It might get a little hectic (eg. wider roads, more traffic) once you’re near Penn Station, but still doable.

Congratulations on the admission to Hopkins!

If it's for undergraduate, there's plenty of on campus housing and the neighborhood there is very walkable as well.

If your kid is at Peabody, they'll be living in Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon is central for walking, public transportation, and biking. The Inner Harbor isn't what it used to be, but it's a nice walk from Rash Field to Fells Point. You can also take the commuter boats across the harbor. Check out the American Visionary Arts Museum. Have a wonderful visit!

This is our first visit to Baltimore so we're totally unfamiliar with the area. Only concern was that is wasn't pedestrian friendly. Our kid just got into Hopkins so we'll be looking at housing but we'd also like to see Inner Harbor and the surrounding museums and catch a baseball game. Thanks for your input!
