I also have a dog reactive sweetheart from BARCS. Have gone through training which was VERY helpful. Here are a few places I’ve used to play and/or practice training outside without too much concern for other dogs: Druid Hill Park tennis courts (fenced in, not much use during the week and off hours), dog park at the NE corner of the Royal Farms Arena, fenced in park at Park Ave and W Lexington, Greenmount Cemetery, Clifton Park tennis courts.

Most areas are ok if you use off hours, early AM, mid-week mid-day, and later PM.

You could also consider a longer lightweight lead. I used a 15’ one to help train off lease stuff without worry of actually being off lease. Helped with Recall training, for example.

SniffSpot has been a lifesaver. You don’t really want to take this dog to a public space where you have no control over the environment or the dog, it could be disastrous. Also, whether or not the area is “public” there are still leash laws, so even if a space looks “clear”, your dog should be on a six foot lead, not a longline, a six foot lead

No shame in getting recommendations! I happen to work a block away from Ottobar so I couldn’t help but chime in (despite not commenting on hotels). Anyhoo, there’s good stuff nearby; Ibar for wings, Jong Kak for Korean Bbq, Joe Squared for pizza, Royal Blue for elevated pub fare, 29th St Tavern for classic pub fare, R House for lot’s of choices under one roof. Have fun visiting Bmore!

Molly Burke, a YouTuber, has a service dog that she cannot take to dog parks. The school she got the dog from recommends the following:

-get a long lead (I don’t remember the exact length - maybe 30-50ft?) -tie it to a tree in an empty area with room to run -let them play and run within this space you’ve created

As far as where to do this in Baltimore, I’m not sure! Maybe Druid Hill park? It may take some scoping to see where people are on/off leash with their dogs

This might not answer your questions completely but I think may be helpful.

My boyfriend and I also recently moved from Arlington to Baltimore, although it was more for my work. My BF is a graphic artist and works fully remote. We moved here a month ago and live in Fed Hill.

  1. I'm Asian and I haven't had a negative experience here. TBH I find that the people here are a lot nicer than people in NOVA, and I don't feel super judged based on how I look and whether or not I am someone worthy to network with.

  2. I haven't found food culture to be super great - although I just moved a month ago so I haven't been able to explore much. There isn't a whole lot of Asian food, not compared to say Annandale or Fairfax. But I do think there's a variety of food to choose from. Again take this answer with a grain of salt because I literally just moved here.

  3. My boyfriend is WFH and we have Verizon. We haven't had issues with Internet - just make sure they install it correctly haha

As to your hobbies and interests, there are some arcade bars in Fed Hill that seem fun! I haven't been able to go yet, but definitely things to do that aligh with your interests. My bf and I are nerds in the sense that we cosplay - I think there's a baltimore comic con that might have things you're interested in.

Ulysses is great. Min 150 a room before fees, maybe more depending on the day of week.

For Ottobar your cheapest and closest option is probably the Motel 6 on North Avenue. Less than a five minute walk, easily. I cannot at all speak to the quality, but it doesn't look like much. I'd personally splurge a bit more, but it is there.

If you do stay in that neighborhood take a walk around and look at the "townhouses" the rich people used to live in. George Peabody, Emily Post, Johns Hopkins, Enoch Pratt. Also check out The Engineers Club and The George Peabody library for cool interiors and woodwork. For eats... Afgan Restaurant, Brewers Art, Tio Peppe's, The Helmand, Marie Louis Bistro. Lots of good places to eat.
