The area is not rough, that’s a strange thing for someone to say.

But Baltimore is small enough that you can stay at any hotel down in the harbor or whatever and be able to get to Ottobar pretty fast so just do that if you’re nervous. There’s lots of nice hotels in Mount Vernon too and that’s even closer.

Hotels in Baltimore are hit or miss. The prices can be tricky too. I would avoid staying downtown or inner harbor or harbor east. You are far away and it is expensive.

I personally like the Hotel Revival and the prices are usually good. It is gonna be as close to Ottobar as you can get. Has awesome bar/restaurant. There is a new place called Hotel Ulysses, but I have zero idea the price, but it looks amazing. T

The Inn at The Colonnade Baltimore is kind of close but on the JHU campus. It is dated and often very expensive but you get a nice safe location and access to multiple food options (Charles Village, Remington, Hampden)

A couple decades ago, the Baltimore City ground rent blindside vulnerabilities were mitigated by new statutes, and a streamlined redemption process was established.

Before these changes, some property owners lost their houses without notice from the new rent owner that rent was due.

Leasehold property owners should be very concerned to receive certified mail for unrelated advertisements, as the sender could claim the mail was a notice about the rent. By the time the property ownership changed hands, there was nothing the original owner could do to get it back, except to by it at an escalated price.

Leasehold property was not intended to create this hardship. Some people figured out how to abuse the law to take property without paying for it.

I ended up down here from NYC to get sober, I was in a recovery house originally. As others have said there is a massive AA community here. I have 12 years now and attend very few meetings but have also found lots of support in the fitness and fitness adjacent communities. I live in the county myself but have really come to enjoy Baltimore in my 12 years here. Compared to NYC it’s a much easier place to stay sober from my perspective. Roland Park/Hamden area has lots of meetings within a walk of each other.

Two different stores. The one on Washington was the original that was owned for multiple generations. The brothers had a falling out and Victor moved to Bank to open his own store.

John ran the one on Washington and made a number of festivals, but never sold products in stores. That is the one on Bank St. in stores.

No. Tax sale wipes them out. These are properties where if there was a mortgage the mortgage holder said im sick of paying this persons taxes and let it go.

These funds are purely unclaimed because the people they are owed to can’t be bothered to ask for them. Much like they couldn’t be bothered to pay their taxes.
