It hasn’t been called TSU since 1997. It’s just Towson University now

Reply to Recovery Community in Baltimore by Even-Cranberry-5222
My girlfriend and I are both sober and recently moved to Baltimore. There is a big community here, lots of AA meetings and other 12 step programs. Just try to go to 3+ meetings a week and I guarantee your phone will be blowing up with people inviting you to stuff in no time. And, sober people want to date sober people, so if you're active in the community I'm sure you will meet someone. Good luck!

That’s very interesting! This explains why it’s my mom’s favorite.

Hello, yeah the community is big and very supportive! There’s a ton of non drinking activities and you can easily get engaged in tons of ways. I actually just recently started a blog/website with the aim of connecting the community of Baltimore and it outlines a bunch of social clubs, groups, volunteer opportunities and events and such that are available. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to learn more about the local community. The website is here if you want to check it out. It’s a work in progress and there’s way more to add to the various lists. B’More & Beyond

If you want Baltimore style sour beef which is different then traditional sauerbraten this is the answer. The recipe was part of the sale of the original Belair Rd location in Perry Hall to the group that owns it now and attempted to make it a regional chain. I have it for lunch once a month during the winter.

Depends what you are interested in. Ottobar, Metro, and Soundstage have lots of punk, metal, indie rock, hip-hop, and dance nights. Creative Alliance has a wider range of performances from international artists to more specific cultural celebrations. Union Craft is a brewery and only does the occasional concert, but they also do family oriented events.
If you want to stay in the loop you can use the Tumblr I run (https://baltshowplace.tumblr.com/) that lists most of the concerts happening in town each month. I also have an Instagram (@baltshowplace) that keeps people up to date on any changes to shows and low ticket warnings.

I’m new to bmore! Would you recommend all these spots? What spots in general are must visits and for what sort of activities?

As someone that used to work in the industry and periodically still do for extra cash in this economy.. I get it. The quality of life as a Resturtant/hospitality worker is much better. But, as a consumer/patron/local/tourist this doesn’t bode well for my quality of life, nor the communities.
