Sounds like they need a longer lease to make improvements or something like that....

Socially speaking, Baltimore is the friendliest and easiest city on the east coast to make real friends/relationship and connections imho. It’s not super transient as say DC/NYC, so it’s always better to make native Baltimore metro area acquaintances/friends to really get an understanding of how things work here and be in the “know”. People are genuinely interested in the real you here and not the pretensions/social climbing aspects you can provide that’s found in the more Type-A ‘see and be seen’ cities— cough cough DC. We’re all weirdos here, just a matter of your weird messing well with our weird and finding your tribe. There’s something here for everyone!
I love that there’s no pressure to always be “on” here. I’ve lived in other cities and that lifestyle while fun is really fcuking exhausting. I like that the going out scene here is relaxed and not uptight/showy. This a bar city with good dance floors, not to much a club city. People have money, titles, education, and accolades but they won’t throw it in your face every chance they get here and that stuff generally is not the topic of conversation when meeting people or otherwise. People will speak to you in the streets in passing or standing in lines.
Richmond is Baltimore’s little southern half-sister city. I find both cities to be similar in many ways except Baltimore is bigger. The demographics are similar. As is the city relationships with the greater county surrounding it. Richmond to me is Virginia’s only true “real” city. The others are just glorified suburban towns. I suspect you’ll do just fine here and love it as long as you keep an open mind and heart.

I think you would thrive in the Baltimore pinball community. One of my favorite places to hang is Holy Frijoles in Hampden. They have league night every Wednesday starting at 7:30. I am a bit like you described and I have always found the pinball folks to be welcoming but won’t make you feel like you need to talk to them or know everyone to feel included.

From the article:
>The Orioles are not expected to exercise a one-time, five-year lease extension to remain at Oriole Park Camden Yards, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Baltimore Banner. There’s still time remaining before the extension deadline arrives at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, but the ballclub is not expected to change its stance, the source said.

Everyone in Baltimore is very friendly. As someone who was once closed minded about the city (thinking everyone was rude) it really does have a certain charm to it. It wouldn't be as close knit or outward as, say, La Plata; but it's definitely friendly as far as cities go.

I haven’t lived here very long and feel like people here are generally pretty friendly, especially around shared interests (hiking, biking, etc)

Consider reaching out to a costumed character entertainment place (like for kids parties). Someone there may be able to help set this up.

Can we also talk about people snarkily just saying “why aren’t you using search” or linking to something without comments? It’s not helpful and doesn’t solve the problem.

So many references to the movie 'Clue', but awesome idea. Posting to see responses.

No, on the official reddit mobile app (which I know people complain about but I enjoy) the search is literally the entirety of the top of the screen. It's very clear imo

Serious question- regarding the repeat posts on this sub for many topics. Can I get some insight into why people don't seem use the search bar before posting? Is it not easily seen on mobile or something? (I've rarely logged in on my phone because I'm on or near my laptop most of the time).

Regardless of change it’s so interesting that human arrogance believes these changes will benefit, sustain, or even spare us. The most realistic assumption is that we are being rejected, due to the damage we created, to reach equilibrium and start anew. Humans aren’t forever. Nothing is.

Hold onto this comment. Genuinely. We are losing species to this - namely birds and pollinators (not just bees, bats too), natural disasters are getting worse and more frequent. We are currently projected to have the an unlivable planet by 2040 from those that researched this extensively for decades. This matches the projection that Exxon and shell’’s own scientists - as well as MIT - calculated using their own data. We’re projected to have an inability to reliably grow for even sooner. Not to mention the rise of fascism, the global pandemic that continues w 4000 deaths a week in the US alone, no mitigations, and no transmission stopping vaccine anywhere/worsening variants, and supply chain issues stemming from all these sources as well as a majority unwell and increasingly disabled workforce.
The reality of it feels like fear mongering because so much of it is oppressive to continued existence and hard to accept, but time will prove that we are headed toward societal and climate collapse.

To be clear, I dont agree with the concern...I am a professional in the humanities who works with the population in the area. And I am wondering if the education and dissemination of information is being done in such a way that the engineering, and how the line would run with no freight is being distributed in a way that is effective.

Reply to Orioles expected to pass on five-year lease extension at Camden Yards by Cody_in_Baltimore
Coulda also added context that much of the rest of the article is quotes from a range of people, and some analysis of finances, indicating a strong likelihood of the O’s renewing the lease later, and pretty much zero evidence that this is concerning
