As some others have mentioned, a booking agent is your friend in this area. My cover band is booked with one of the ones mentioned and while we had some success before working with them, we have seen a dramatic rise in gigs since. Keep in mind though, there are a ton of bands doing the same thing you are, and even within booking agents there are a bunch of crossover bands so there's an element of competition even within the agencies.

Before working with an agency we did have success booking with local breweries and other similar venues. You're playing a good range so you should have no problem getting into a brewery. I would highly suggest playing these gigs. They're not necessarily the highest paying but the staff are usually always great and you often get free beer! Some to check out in the city are Full Tilt, Mobtown, Pariah, Union (occasionally has gigs), and Peabody Heights. There are a ton of breweries in the Bal-DC metro though so definitely reach out to those. There are also a handful of bars that book independent bands. Don't Know Tavern and Racers (in the county) come to mind. You might have some luck with some of the bars in Fells Point including Admirals Cup and Waterfront, but those are both the "big" cover band bars so there are a ton of bands seeking them out. Horse you came in on and Cats Eye also host bands in Fells, where Cats Eye is more blues/classic rock so you might fare better there.

I'm sure there's more I'm missing but hopefully that'll give you a good start. Best of luck in booking. It can be frustrating but worth it once you get that gig!

Edit: also, be sure to follow Baltimore Showplace on instagram @ baltshowplace. They post a lot of shows going on in the city and can give you an idea of other venues to check out.

2500 sq/ft home, all electric (with heatpump) and an electric car. Thermostat set to 69-70. $275 bill this month.

I've put a lot of $$ and effort into airsealing, insulation, thermal optimization...so the total isn't too high compared to some others, but this is still the highest bill I've had in ~5 years.

Possession isn't a violent crime.

I'm all for 10, 15, 20 years mandatory minimums (I know this article is only talking about maximums) for anyone who uses a gun in the act of committing another crime, but sending someone away for a decade because they live in one of the most violent neighborhoods in the developed world while simultaneously having an awful police/community relationship, a 16 minute average response time, a cash based economy, and a huge financial barrier to entry for a legal handgun permit... It just doesn't make sense.

We're letting trigger pullers off with a slap on the wrist, let's fix that before lumping every person with a gun into the groups that are tearing the city apart.

Compassion for individuals ruining peoples lives that struggle with drug addiction? What they are doing enabling and capitalizing from these peoples addiction. You’re extremely out of touch and inhumane if you think letting this go on is the right thing to do.

Policing others (I.e. rEpOrTiNg a DrUg HoUsE) rarely does anything but create a reactive law enforcement presence that only perpetuates more violence. Try living here for more than a year to see the evidence of this all around you? Might help.

You just moved to the area, I imagine you did some research on the neighborhood before settling. Demanding it change to suit your comfort is rich. These are your neighbors, people you could maybe have some compassion for but sure yeah call the police on them.

Your going to be in for a shock moving from where you are to here. I suggest moving to Sykesville which is right outside of Baltimore. It's rural , pretty out there.

You can! The block captain for Safety, not the block captain for my block to clarify, one from another block, reported drug dealing to the mayor. The police reports to 911 and 311 didn’t help. Councilperson Porter does not respond at all. Our neighborhood group was replaced something Porter started and they don’t do anything. My street has three houses I know have heavy drug users who also steal, threaten people. There is one house with a man and woman who openly deal heroin. I was at my wit’s end.

I uploaded pictures from the doorbell camera to Metro Crime Stoppers. The Safety block captain, again not from my block, has been talking to the mayor about the problem. We finally received some action, uniformed patrol policemen and plainclothes men around the block for the last two days.

If you report to 911 or 311 I recommend you do it anonymously. The Metro Crime Stoppers website is already anonymous. If you decide to contact the mayor I recommend you ask someone who lives on a different block to be your middleman.
