Lots of great things happening in pigtown. Look near the intersection of Washington Blvd and Scott Street. Buying is a great idea because a lot of rowhomes rent for more than a 250k house’s mortgage. My single family house in the city’s mortgage is less than what I use to pay to rent in canton. If you’re handy you could easily improve a rowhome and sell for more than you bought it for. Good luck!

Mimikay's is great. It's just 1 pharmacist, so don't expect services that chains have pretty much made standard like auto-refilling of medications or a call when they're ready, but I've always found those services annoying and unreliable anyway. But if those services don't matter to you, Mimikay is a great pharmacy.

While I hope you grow to love the city over 4 years and choose to stay forever, why are you deciding to purchase a home, for the first time nonetheless, and not have the flexibility to rent for a little to get the feel for what your needs are and other personal tastes? Owning for just 4 years that someone is in school certaintly is a lot to handle, and don't expect to get your money back or even make a profit because most house make a profit after 5-7 years at least.

Just things to keep in mind.

Also, to go off of another comment, be sure that you mean University of Maryland, Baltimore, NOT the flagship College Park campus.

I agree. Smh it's nice for the Baltimore restaurant scene I guess, but something is off. I don't understand the appeal of Ekiben, either. Maybe I am not eating the right things. Neighborhood bird. Like, it was OK, but I'm not breaking my neck to go back.

But congrats to folks who were recognized.

From the article:

>While the rest of the world is looking at the Oscar nominees, foodies’ eyes are on the James Beard Awards. And this year, Baltimore has another strong showing.
Two Baltimore restauranteurs were nominated for the best mid-Atlantic chef category: Steve Chu of Ekiben and Chris Amendola of Foraged in Station North.

I was thinking about this but there is no real good way to have carbrains do right turns across bus / bike lanes that act as straight thrus that works well. They never check their right to yield to thru traffic.

My wife will be attending university of Maryland. I've never been to the city before, so any advice or input is appreciated. If we buy, we'll be 1st time home owners. We're approved for 250k. My primary interest would be an outdated 2/2 or 3/2 that I can remodel while living there and sell when she graduates. Any certain areas to avoid? any reccomend real estate agents?

Edit : School of medicine campus- near the Lexington Market
