NE Baltimore heads know the best hole-in-the-wall grab & go spot is GIL'S PIZZA.

Lol! I would not call Cafe Dear Leon a hole in the wall. Wish it were one for sure though. I would get soooo chonky on cheap pasteries!

Great food, but not really a hole in the wall ever since their expansion and makeover. It's a better place to eat-in now.

From what I've seen, a lot of the Camden trains had been cancelled. The Camden line isn't run by Amtrak so they don't have the option of doubling up with local Amtrak trains like the Penn line. The MTA Maryland Twitter page has the details on which trains have been cancelled.

Yeah article is brief, but says they're working on restoring service but no estimated time, maybe progress has been made. I wonder if Camden is also affected.
I'm usually a 6 am rider on some Fridays so... Thankful my meeting was last week because I would not have been a happy camper this morning.

Simply Marie's, definitely. Cafe Dear Leon has a line down the street half the time, not sure I'd call that a "grab and go" type place. (though it is awesome)

I haven’t been in several years, but when I worked in the Curtis bay industrial area, paiks place has the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. Nothing special, place is dirty, but the breakfast is the shit

Taki's Carryout Restaurant, or on the sign out side, Taki's Pizza. Which oddly, sells no pizza. But go there, get the breakfast combo for under 5 bucks. Add onions to the potatoes. And I swear to God, if you hipsters start making this place busy, I'll be upset at you. But I'd be happy for the owners, Tina and Mo. Who are just the most loveable owner duo.
PS: buy your lotto tickets there. They get like 1% of the winnings.

At least some trains on the Penn line are still being run. They're doubling up some Amtrak trains to continue service. I just took it into DC.

I don't know if it qualifies, but for me Mekong Delta- sure feels like a hole in the wall buried in the weird dark food court at Charles Towers. They now take credit cards by the way.

It makes me a little crazy that a failure on MARC is big news, yet every day what seems like half the scheduled buses are cut with no notice to riders and everyone shrugs.

The corner bistro and wine bar just south of UMB. Pricey but some of the best food I’ve had

My husband is turning back around from Penn Station right now due to this issue. He was supposed to give an important presentation in DC today. Bummer. At least he can still get dialed in, but he said it won’t be the same. Wish we had seen this news sooner!

Yes you’re right! I even googled G&M and G&A before commenting because I knew both were a thing, and I still wrong the wrong one haha

Green’s Carryout on Greenmount. Cash only, but so worth that small inconvenience. Breakfast platters are 🤌

Try one of the long term parking apps. I think Neighbor.com is one where people rent out their own driveway/garage. Likely cheaper than a storage place.

I’d highly recommend searching the Baltimore subreddit for “things to do in Baltimore”. There’s about a hundred posts and it saves us time from restating things we’ve already said.
Same with safe neighborhoods, places to eat, best dive bars, etc. there have been some really great discussions even in the last couple days I think would really benefit you!
I’d figure out what part of the city you’ll be in, too, because your close options will differ between Locust Point, Fells Point, Mt Washington, etc. Baltimore isn’t a very connected city - our public transit system leaves a lot to be desired and we’ve got pockets of fantastic neighborhoods that are unfortunately surrounded by blocks I would not walk alone at any hour of the day. That doesn’t mean the whole place in unsafe, just that you should look into the safe neighborhoods. I’d hate to hear someone tried to walk to the Edgar Allen Poe house after sunset 🙃
We’ll be happy to have you! Hopefully you find some good spots

Do you guys like baseball? Os will be at home for long stretches of May, and Camden Yards is considered to be the most beautiful modern park in the MLB.
You mentioned cheap being a plus, Os have one of the lowest game-day costs in the league, thanks to low ticket prices and a very friendly outside food and drink policy
