We did a welcome night for our wedding weekend at R House and it actually worked out great - got there early and scoped out the corner section with the couches near the bar. No rental fee, everyone could have their own tab, people can eat if they want or they don’t have to, there’s games, indoor/outdoor space, and lots of areas to mingle and interact. I thought it worked especially well for a big group where a lot of people don’t know each other.

I've used Home Vets, one of the mobile vets. I did like them, it's that my cats were way to feisty at home, I learned it's best to take them to an office, where they just freeze and let the vet do what is needed. I would recommend Home Vets to other people.

Came here to say this. I’ve hosted and attended many parties here and they’re great to work with.

Cross Street Public House has an upstairs. It's a cheap rental. they can do seperate tabs for all your guests, or you can do one tab depending on what kind of party you are throwing. Pizza and food is pretty good too. Just went to a party there and it was great, several of my neighbors are now planning on having events there.

I love Evergreen for my cat. Super calm environment, and they will give medication if necessary.

I second Peabody Heights. Had my most recent birthday party there and ordered outside food for guests. It was a great venue for it, great beer, and the staff are awesome to work with

Mahaffey’s has an upper level we rented out for my husband’s birthday. They’ll cater too.

You used to be able to host for free at the Canton HomeSlyce upstairs with the skeeball.

You'll Never Walk Alone did a great job with my (recently acquired) scared, shut down (yet feisty), elderly rescue cats.
I was dreading the visit, given how tense the cats are. But we were put in a exam room right away, the techs and the vet were really great with them, and the vet bill was lower than I anticipated.
Everyone was very caring and thorough, and no one was put off by the hissing and claws.

Waverly Brewing moved to an events/private party model. I think the rental fee is basically just an order minimum.
I also think Blue Pit facilitates private parties.

Academy is great. They have you wait in your car and people come in one at a time so my cats never see other animals. They did a good job of completing an exam on my cats who were freaking out
