I’m so upset I couldn’t get out of my own way back then. I was a black teen from Baltimore and everyone told me that it was only for “weird white people.” And I know how wrong they are now. But so many years wasted on that Terrible ideology.

I feel like I may have seen you at comic con. I was the pink ninja ranger.
But I’m so glad you told me about this! I’m trying to book a hotel and stuff immediately! I need to see everyone there! Gah!!!

I love coming here, great food with a don't care attitude. Truly an old meets nuskool diner experience. Kids love to look at all the hanging toys and nick nacks..They ask to go at least twice a month.

Will be at Richmond GalaxyCon. Undecided if I'm dressing up - working a friend's booth.
The guest list at that one's pretty fantastic, I suggest making the trip.
(My last cosplays were for Baltimore Comic Con before the pandemic - I was genderbent Beetlejuice on Sunday and cartoon Lydia on Saturday. Nobody recognized Lydia but everyone recognized BJ. :D )

Thanks for this! Those announcements were recorded sooo long ago, I'd forgotten they existed! I'll look to get them updated. And thanks so much! :)

Should just sticky a Rat Czar link so people can find all this stuff, if it’s still around. Folks could get this out of their system.

It's also important to note that Baltimore is actually working on a lot of those real issues. Transit in particular I think they're doing great on for a US city

I just want to say I recently moved to Oakland (CA) for a temporary work assignment and it makes Baltimore look like Paris. As bad a rep as Baltimore gets, we’re definitely better than Oakland (and probably a lot of other places) so there’s that.

Too Many Names by Keston De Coteau
Now before everyone starts downvoting for the unfortunately true subject matter it was made by a Baltimore native. Keston told me about his work while giving him a Lyft a couple months ago. When someone asks if I’ll check out their creative work, I do. Even if it’s a bad SoundCloud mix tape, but fortunately Keston’s documentary was very much worth the time.
It was an engaging doc that didn’t try to be emotion porn, it just told it like it is without going out of its way to be “in your face”. Personally it managed to make me give a shit and take inventory of what goes on in the west side of Baltimore.

Used to go late at night for cake and lemon sorbet ice tea. They got rid of the scoop-or-sorbet in ice tea around the time they cut the hours back. I think it was around the recession?
