This link isn't working but I'd definitely be curious to see that.

On a similar note, for anyone who's curious, there's a podcast from a few years back called Running From COPS (or something very similar) that was about televised policing and how sketchy it is. Highly recommended!

It was never ever this bad. It’s literally 15 minutes from cvs to 290 almost every afternoon. Now, is it safer for pedestrians, I don’t know, it might well be, but it does seem to me that all of those cars trucks and buses stuck in traffic are going to increase pollution. Heywood street into Kelly square is the same, traffic nightmare, but that was the goal, slow everything down for pedestrians.

I just had my own replaced a month ago and it was $4200 for a double wall Roth tank. All permits, taxes, and disposal etc included.

They told me it would be $3900 for a direct replacement, single wall steel tank. For an additional 300 it was a no brainer to get the better one with a longer warranty. It also takes up less floor space because it's more of a vertical rectangle than the old style.

I used CKSmith and they chose to sub it out because either they didn't have a crew that could do it soon enough, or that's just how they do it.

The old tank was leaking so I needed it done quickly.

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between Worcester and surrounding towns which lists miles of public road, snow-removal budget, and citizen satisfaction. my gut says things are worse here because the ratio of plowed miles to available dollars is higher, but that's just a guess.

Once the snow is on the ground, the stuff that literally flabbergasts me is going over the town lines. Like Worcester to Leicester, Holden, Grafton borders go from an inch thick sheet of ice with an inch of slush on top to a perfectly clean road. It's almost jarring.

The Fox Cops filming in Worcester was a total fiasco. Cops were harassing youth throughout the community trying to get their minute of fame. One of the "incidents" led to a lawsuit after cops/film crew went into an apartment through a bedroom window where a guy was sleeping naked. Myself and a friend were arrested by cops for handing out fliers for an anti-Fox Cops community rally, one of the cops eventually got kicked off the force (Google Mark Rojas), the other got promoted.

After a week of community pressure, the City announced it was ending the agreement w/ FOX, and they were leaving. Chief Gemme at the time had a great quote at the time saying he had never really heard of the show and watched it and didn't know what it was really about.

Here's a 90's community video podcast from back then:

Think of the cost savings! One trip out in November, job done.

I'm sure it's the same everywhere but I always think back to around 2004-5 when they said that they were going to put GPS in city plow trucks and any contracted plows. They went completely apeshit...though to be fair, there were less plow trucks in DD parking lots after that...
