It’s not only the Ball Park… lots of reasons, including high cost of food service items, and inflation, have eroded the razor thin profit margins. Also, most places can’t find staff and owners are working 65-80 hour weeks to make up for it.

Parking is obviously an issue… but the ball park is only open for home games 70-something days a year.

This and Smokestack closing? That's fucking rough.

Worcester was doing so well for a while too. It's a shame they put a stadium in, because from my understanding it's short term profits for some, then a down turn for everyone once the stadium isn't novel anymore.

I always found Ralph’s diner to be accepting of everyone. Very much a counter culture type place. I used to go multiple times per week but I moved out of town a few years ago and haven’t been in a while.

My band used to play there. The patrons were generally nice enough. When we were outside smoking butts we were approached many times by drug dealers. We stupidly lost 40 bucks trying to buy some green off one of them. Parking sucks and it’s a pretty rough neighborhood. It’s a good venue to see a local metal band.

Hilton Garden Inn. Literally next door. Clean comfortable rooms, complimentary bottled water at reception (used to be big jars of fresh spring water with cucumbers and citrus in it, but due to COVID they've discontinued that afaik), and surprisingly cozy beds. Super super clean. Staff were nice and very accommodating when I had to change our payment method last minute.

I was there yesterday and it was busy...it must be the ballpark during games because there is no parking.

Can't imagine anyone warned Worcester that it would be a problem....

They were closed Mon-Wed. Open most Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings, then Sunday brunch. They didn’t open today or this past Thursday. A lot of places in Kelley Square have (what I think of as) odd days/hours. I’m always checking a place’s social media to see if they’re open before I go out.

There used to be a lot of local shows there 10+ years ago, not sure if there are now. Went there a lot growing up. Yeah, rough neighborhood and we definitely got into our share of mischief in the neighborhood growing up, but I always enjoyed the place and never really felt too sketched out
