Reply to Maddie's closing by Mentalcasemama
I dont know if it's because of the ball park specifically, but between them, Smokestack, Bucks - they're all apparently closing the same weekend. I wonder if it's due to a landlord?

I agree. I liked Broth too. I hope they resurrect somewhere close!

Maddi's is a great place. Hope they will open another location in Worcester.
Until then, Depot St. Tavern in Milford is the owner's original place and hope to see them thriving for a long time.

How's that gentrification going?

I also lament the restaurants that are closing of late.
The reality is that 60% fail within their first year, and 80% go under within the first five years.
A lot of work, love, and hope go into opening a restaurant. There are real people and dreams behind those statistics.

Terrible. Losing a lot of good restaurants. I use to feel like we had an abundance of places to go in the city. Now, not as much so.

Maybe add in plant-based restaurants? Like Loving Hut, Root and Press, The Vegan Nest

Worcester seems remarkably queer to me but I don't know of any place solely queer; most of what I'e seen is generally inclusive. I'm not a lounge person but I like wine. The wine store in the Public Market is lesbian owned. Dead Horse Hill has a great bar. Redemption Rock has a lot of events. Check out https://www.loveyourlabels.org & JMAC. Welcome & hope that helps!

Great venue. Great shows, good sound, reasonably priced drinks. Rough neighborhood.

The Hilton Garden is basically a 5 min walk from the Palladium. I think I paid $125 last time I stayed there for a night. There's an Uno's next door to it. Everything else is a little further.

Yup I saw that one, Hilton. There are a few more as well within about a 5 block radius. Wasn’t sure if one was more preferred over others. Thank you!

Best hotel next to the palladium is the one where Unos is. It’s right there.

I was there Friday too to see Hidden Figures! Definitely not the same place it was last time I went (soooo long ago!) If Not For Me killed it!

I’m not so sure of that, I think most Worcester county residents are semi-familiar with it.

Yeah honestly the layout and decor is pretty neat but everything looks run down and in need of a thorough cleaning. Went there a few times and I really wanted to like it. If they brought in some craft beers and better cocktails they could be another Nick's, but I imagine their operating budget doesn't support a full reno. This place needs to be on bar rescue or something.

Familiar with it, yes. But our counties aren't used for anything. They aren't even a good indicator of homogeneity. For example, while Worcester seems fairly queer-friendly, there are areas in northern Worcester County that decidedly are not.
