DCU shouldn't be struggling as much as it is though. I know the casinos and newer venues in the Boston area hurt them, but it's insane that they've gone from pulling the biggest bands in the world to not being able to even get like bottom-tier acts. Mismanaged honestly. It's not the best venue, but they should do better than THIS.

And Polar Park would be a nice little venue to see a show in, if they figured out the door thing. Quincy is having a nice little musical festival at essentially a high school football stadium this Summer. Polar Park could have at least pulled something like that off if they had planned the building better

That situation is truly ridiculous but on the other hand I believe the city would struggle to book more than a handful of prominent concert acts there each year. The venue market is sort of saturated in Massachusetts across building size and type. Book a band into Polar Park and you may lose a date for the DCU which is already struggling.

Also, outdoor shows are already happening with great success at the Palladium in the summer. Saw Coheed and Cambria there and it had to be 8,000 in attendance. However the amenities there are poor. No seats obviously which sucks (I'm old).

And I feel like Xfinity Center, Leader Bank Pavilion have the market cornered on midsize (5,000) to large (15,000) outdoor shows.

Anyway, the solution is for Polar Park to buy a stage and PA/lighting rig that touring acts could plug into and augment as needed. Keep the gear stored somewhere inside and assemble it for shows.

I do hope the planners put some storage space into the blueprints for this $150 million park.

It's for the upkeep of all their infrastructure, they own and maintain and are responsible for the so to speak roads bridges and tunnels that move the gas to people's homes.

The last couple years they've been doing a lot of replacement work, you may have seen all the job sites and digging going on around town.

Now they are sticking ratepayers with the bill and most likely adding a nice fat tip for themselves on top.

I don't understand the delivery charge, it sounds like they're charging you for the gas traveling through a pipe to your home. How is this an expense to them and an added cost to you? It sounds like BS to me. Propane is physically delivered and there's never a delivery fee. Years ago we lived in Worcester and Worcester had ComGas and no middle men. You got a monthly bill that was one price with no fees. We get all sorts of junk mail from Energy companies who claim to lower your bills. I haven't heard of one yet that actually has. I deal directly with National Grid for electricity and my propane supplier with no added fees. Everything else sounds like a scam.

I have no trust in any company. But I know how they operate and I have experience in the field. So I’d wager to say I have a better understanding of how metering and billing and utility construction works than your average person.

I was told they pull an electronic reading once per month on my cycle end date because I'm close enough to one of their centers. In all my previous bills, the current reading says "0 Actual" and the previous reading says "0 Actual". So, if those are actual readings, I shouldn't be charged anything, right?

Ah, I see what you mean. It says actual. In all my prevuous bills, the current reading says "0 Actual" and the previous reading says "0 Actual". So, if those are actual readings, I shouldn't be charged anything, right?

Well, once I have bills with this new meter, I'll update you. We can see how big of a difference it makes. And when I contact them for credits, I'll let you know what they say. You seem to have too much trust in them for no reason.

Meters have radios in them. It pings a signal every few seconds. Bills are done In cycles. Every cycle is a different area of the city/coverage area. They have a vehicle with a transponder that drives around and collects the data sent from each individual meter. That’s how they “automatically” get a reading from your meter every month. Unless you pay the (I think it’s $15 I could be wrong) money to have someone physically come read your meter. You can also ask them to have someone come re-read the meter if you think there was an error.

You and thousands of other people— utilities are not magic, they deal with hundreds of thousands of customers. It’s an impossible ask to expect immediate answers or change. You should post your bills from the previous two years during the same time frame, and then compare it to the new readings with your new meter. One day of usage doesn’t come close to telling you the full story. One week isn’t enough either.

If it’s proven that they have over billed you , they will credit you. This is why myself and others have told you to contact the DPU. There are processes for everything. You need to have the patience and understanding to work that process. Complaining here or taking frustrations out on a representative isn’t going to get your situation corrected.

Again, I think you’re grasping at straws with the conspiracy thing. They’re not purposely trying to screw your over.
