I realize it's not super intuitive, but adding more housing, even housing that is unaffordable to most people, has ripple effects that help to reduce the cost of housing for everyone else.

Here's one study, but this has been ound to be true in several others as well.

I played D&D while I was still in Worcester. I ran a weekly game that paused for 5 months in the winter, and I played as a player in weekly game. Both were on Sundays! We used to play in garages for both games, one was unfinished, and the other was. You probably can't figure out which game was which.

Regardless, I've enjoyed my time with 5e, but by the time I come back to Worcester, I will not run it again, and I'd be hesitant to play in it again too. When I come back, I will run a d100 Noire campaign set in a fiction 1929 American city: Westville Falls.

After that I want to go back to fantasy, but explore other game systems.

I'm definitely interested! I've been trying to get into D&D for a while, but would prefer to play in person and haven't been able to make it work yet.

Do you have someone in mind for DM? That might be the hard part.

Just so you (OOP) know: It is not a large campus. It is an incredibly small campus, which is a fact that the students LOVE. Like, it’s not big at all and no one wants it to be. If you’re expecting a Yale/UConn/UMass/Northeastern or even Holy Cross sized campus you will be disappointed. But we have an actual campus unlike Suffolk or BU or Emerson.

Go to iKrave!!!!! It’s a coffee shop right where Clark is and it’s sooooo good!!

  • If you like sushi, I recommend Soho Express Sushi and Hibachi. Also, if you can, go to Annie’s Clark Brunch. Then there’s Antonio’s Pizza By The Slice a bit further down Park Ave. I recommend the mac and cheese! but their pizzas are also super unique and amazing! Also also also, Yoway Cafe & Frozen Yogurt has amazing yogurt and desert crepes! There’s also Tastetea Rolls (rolled ice cream) but I prefer Yoway. AAAAAAND if you like PokĂ© Bowls, go to Holy PokĂ©! For close Chinese food, try New China Lantern on Main Street.

  • We frequent the Wendy’s, Taco Bell/KFC, Honey Farms, 7/11, and CVS on Park Ave. And the 7/11 and McDonald’s and Dunkin’ on Main Street.

  • As far as Clark things go, I think the art exhibit from last semester is still in the Traina Center Gallery, so you should go check that out! If you are here on January 28th, there’s a concert at 7:30pm (follow the VPA Instagram/Facebook/Twitter to see the posts about details that are coming soon- @ClarkUVPA).

  • Outside of the main campus area there’s Worcester Public Market, Crompton Collective & From Seed to Stem & Bedlam Book Cafe & Birch Tree Bread Company (all in the same building in the Canal District), then places like Miss Worcester Diner and Altea’s Eatery (still pretty close to Clark).

I’m a senior at Clark, let me know if I can answer any questions for you! I happen to know a decent amount of how things work around here.

no one is addressing the elephant in the room, which is that new triple/quad deckers would solve this problem but they are illegal because of some old bigoted anti-immigrant law that was put into place over 100 years ago.

imagine new 3 deckers with modern plumbing and electric tech with thicker floors for soundproofing and off-property parking and provisions for moving heavy items to upper floors.

they are a win for the developer who can sell them after renting them out a few years, they are a win for people who need affordable apartments, and they are a win for the new owners as they provide upward mobility by living onsite and renting the other floors.

there's no reason to be against them unless you envision the outdated model. a small neighborhood of new 3 deckers would provide a lot of what is lacking in this city.

time to do away with laws that were only enacted to be hostile to immigrants and start providing affordable apartments and promoting home ownership.
