I find it insane that they even announce these things. Where I grew up, you never knew, and we had at least 3 a month in our small town alone. I remember going through one in Watertown a few years ago and you could see what was happening a 2 miles away and could easily avoid it if you wanted. In NY, there was no indication, sometimes just one squad car on a side street…busted. Sure it’s annoying if you like to go out but, it’s easier now than ever to get home safely.

I literally cannot speak any more highly of VEG. Through an unfortunate series of events, we were there twice with two different dogs in the span of three weeks or so. They were incredible both times.

It needs to be said, they’re pricey. But I love the fact that once I left, I could call back and speak to an actual vet on the phone with any questions. I called seriously four times in the span of 36 hours after we brought our lovable idiot who ate a Christmas ornament home, and spent a good 3-4 minutes on the phone with the vet each time. (Uhhh sorry to whoever posted here that they’re understaffed with long waits…probably my fault somewhat haha).

My fam has going to Shrewsbury Dentistry for a few years for regular care (can't speak to extractions, etc.). Well-run, high-tech (ie, less painful), great techs. It's probably not the cheapest, but they're very transparent about pricing and do a great job.

I’ve had to bring my kitten twice and each time was the same. Like others have pointed out, it seems like they’re definitely understaffed because of the wait times but I was lucky enough to be seen by the doctor. They’re all extremely kind but definitely would not bring my animals there for minor emergencies.

Thank you for encouraging readers not to be douchebags!

I have one request/suggestion. I would be more inclined to describe the conspiracy theories you're referring to without insulting people who suffer from schizophrenia by using the word "schizo."

I assume that wasn't your intention. Just wanted to give a gentle reminder that someone with schizophrenia, including someone with schizophrenia who wants a vaccine, might read that.

People with schizophrenia are not to blame for the spread of fake news. Fear mongering and misinformation are to blame for that.

I’m at city hall now and they said they’re giving me a permit for the side street bordering my building because the building is on the corner. If they didn’t I was ready to file a lawsuit against the city for damages because there’s literally nowhere else to park.

I've had a handful of excellent experiences there. According to the techs I've spoken to, they pay a much fairer wage than other places and are run by veterinarians vs. a non-vet business admin. They let you stay with your pet the whole time, and were really kind about explanations. Definitely a long wait for "minor" emergencies (multiple hours for a severe laceration that needed stitches) but they triage well and try to take care of you while you wait (food, water, check ins, dog beds, etc.). Emergency vets are short staffed beyond measure right know, as much as I love Tufts I won't take an animal there for anything but life or death emergencies because they'll likely turn you away or the wait will be astronomical right now.

And dangerous. And just to clarify, because the fire station is right there it wasn’t related to emergency vehicles coming through, it was a constant ongoing thing. I did report it the last time to the city and haven’t seen it happen since 🤞

Had an emergency a few weeks back and they advised all vets, including emergency vets, are incredibly booked up. VEG folk were kind but couldn't see me.

Eventually went to Douglas Animal Hospital the same day after every other place i called advised I go somewhere metrowest.

Yeah, it's a crazy intersection to begin without adding in emergency vehicles.

I don't have much knowledge of what happens when an emergency vehicle signals that they need to get through an intersection, but it's not like it flips immediately. My guess was more that maybe traffic on Plantation St (or vice-versa) had been waiting for the light and shortly after they received the green a request came in to change so it was only green for a couple of cars and those behind might not have looked or assumed it was still green if there was solar glare or something.
