Reply to Before I moved here in ‘16 I used to enjoy playing daily fantasy sports. But WA says it’s a game of chance and it’s not allowed here. Of course you can blow your entire paycheck on state funded lottery or lose your kids college funds and rent money at any number of casinos. Including sports betting! by [deleted]

Port orchard is small but cool. If you want a nice area to explore you can go to gig harbor and walk around, shop, get some food. A little further is Tacoma which has everything you need. If you want to explore Seattle or have a little vacation on vashon island you’re close to the south worth ferry which is 30-60 min ride.

I would not say Port Orchard is liberal. Seattle might be, but I wouldn’t say PO is.

Yeah, I was there for Independence Day weekend and it was very cool and wet, so much so that the Blue Glacier was entirely shrouded by fog. I went back for Labor Day and it was so hot and dry and there was smoke outside the valley. Really wild how much a difference one month can make.

Man, I'm originally from Memphis. I could kill for a pulled pork sandwich. One thing I really miss living in Port Orchard is the food options. Its pretty limited here.

Headlights being off, rolling through a stop sign, driving slow on the highway, tabs being covered by snow, idling in a party neighborhood... About half of them have been either my headlights not being bright enough or me driving around slowly at night.

Port Orchard is pretty quiet, not a lot going on but you can fairly reasonably (very easily, forgot about the ferry) get to Seattle on the weekends for more things to do city wise. There is a lot of accessible nature if that is your jam (head over the hood canal bridge and it is beautiful).

You’ll be close to all the beautiful hikes of the Olympics so that’s pretty sweet.

Be extra careful taking down those cottonwoods. They are weak ass trees and do really unpredictable things when taking em down. Alders aren’t much better but tend to be smaller.
I’d consider thinking of the wood chips as mulch for that area. You can just spread it around and it’ll decompose in a couple years and return a lot nutrients to the ground. It’s considered best practice in tree care. Just food for thought. You won’t have to pay for hauling away which is a big cost, but you’ll have the added work of spreading out the chips. It’s either your time or your money haha
