Fyi, If I'm remembering the area your talking about correctly, those "lines" across the highway from Seattle to Tacoma are expansion joints. The road there is made of panels of concrete, not asphalt. If the road didn't have gaps then in the summer the road would expand and buckle.

Depending what you're into - Packwood.
Not as many stores, though it is growing quickly. But lots of skiing and outdoor activities

Yes I was hoping if I got off track on a hike the offline map could give me an idea of where I was

Part of me wants to say, “wow, yeah it is!”, but the kid in me who grew up going to Steven’s pass and Leavenworth would ask people to stop advertising it because it’s too crowded now. But it’s too crowded because Veil co. And annoying west siders, so carry on.

Highway is fine, except Tumwater canyon right before town is still closed so add 30 mins to your drive for the Chumstick detour.
Side streets in downtown are fine.
Side streets in neighborhoods are pretty terrible. The town is out of places to put snow. If you park in the neighborhood please make sure you aren't blocking driveways or making streets single lane by blocking.

I'm definitely missing a few things as yesterday's drive completely fucked my sleep schedule and I'm just staying up all night at this point to fix it. If you got anything extra I'd love to hear it

Actually, yes. It started in 1917 when when William Boeing donated 6000$ to make a wind tunnel and the UW committed to Aeronautics courses and training Engineers. They've been intertwined ever since. The UW has a web page about in in the Engineering section.

I wouldn’t say it’s “overhyped”, because it really is a neat little town, but it is expensive and often very crowded.

Check the weather before you go if it’s winter time, and check for wildfires in the summer.
ETA: it’s ok to ask locals for directions or help. Rural people are used to us dumb city slickers stumbling around like fools. Just respect private property, as others have said.
