Parts of the world seeks to push them towards heating homes instead of wasting the heat/burn more energy to cool the servers. It's an uphill battle though as these big tech companies prefer a race to the bottom where they rather pay to greenwash themselves than make an actual difference. As I understand it this is a developing field to optimize and increase energy efficiency of big data centers. They can often offset their carbon footprint by providing heating to the towns they're built in, if only they're willing and it don't cost them too much...

Those are not equivalent arguments though. They have to change because the state of California said enough is enough. It would be like cops finally doing their job, because a vigilante is making them look bad.

The second one wouldn't be possible, he would be dead if the planet is uninhabitable.

My point stands they are doing this as PR and potentially bury the news about California. Before any other states decide to make them change their policies.

Better late then never is a thought cancelling mentality ... it's an excuse to keep being/doing shitty things.

Imagine if the authorities said that after catching a serial killer.

Imagine the leader of the planet saying it after we've made the planet uninhabitable.

I stopped buying the "better late then never" propaganda when I realized how the 2 party voting system worked.
