TIVA also allows for much better intra-operative neurosurgical monitoring! Gas obliterates SSEPs and MEPs (especially) to the point where if there’s any gas on board motor evoked potentials will be completely lost.

Fun fact: When we bought our house in Oregon, we had to go to a lawyer to remove a clause that said "No Japanese" can buy this house. It was in the deed. I had to pay to get that removed so I could buy the property.
It's not about the past, it's about the present.

TIVAs are more expensive, usually take longer recovery in PACU, and have higher concerns of intra operative awareness.

Being honest with current reality is strength. Pretending that a law passed 200 years ago removed the injustice and impact of slavery from a society is folly.

I would never never tattoo a cat.
But if I rescued a cat that was previously tattooed by a mexican cartel, I would definitely leave it as adopting an ex-Mexican cartel gangbanger cat is probably the most bad ass cat adoption story possible
Not to mention tattoo removal is painful

I’ll update this thread from what they send/find out. It will have a truly loving home.

I'd like to see the advantages of a hydrogen energy storage system over conventional battery storage systems.
Hydrogen as energy storage lacks energy density, and suffers some serious safety issues (very high pressure flammable gas). Conventional batteries are heavy, take longer to recharge, but have much higher energy density.

I’m so glad the cat is healthy for the most part. Everything else can be healed with love and care. It sucks the tattoos can’t be removed but totally understandable. No need to post pics or anything like that, those memories are long and I’m sure that cat would be a prize. Wish the new pet parents and kitty luck and sending love their way.

They took it to a vet yesterday. Overall healthy, has some PTSD with Loud noises and random touching (like if you pick it up without the cat hearing you) it will freak out a little. Has some infections in its eyes and lungs but it’s a common fix with medication. The tattoos will never be removed as it would cause more pain, so for now it wears a full body jacket to cover it. And they recommended having the cat outside as much as possible to socialize in a normal environment. If I could send pictures I would but for their safety I won’t until they come public (if that ever happens)

Tell your anesthesiologist that gas makes you intolerably nauseous. They might want to try a scopolamine patch, or they might just go straight to “TIVA”, which is total intravenous anesthesia, which is propofol (or “Jackson Juice”).
TIVA is much more expensive than the various gasses at their disposal, so you might keep that in mind as well (at least if you’re in the US).

Are they going to see about getting the tattoos removed? Poor baby, how is her health? I am unreasonably concerned about this cat.

True. Overall, pros/cons for each - best to use correct anesthetic for the situation, as opposed to blanket statements of convenience
