Most reasonably high paying careers require more than 40 hours a week to get work done. I don’t know if it really applies to the “elite”

Yes. Stopping High Speed Rail with The Boring Co. worked out for Elon as well as Twitter did.

It's good to know that a war hasn't dampened their love for one another. Let's hope this war ends soon and they can enjoy it without the specter of bloodshed hanging over them.

Sure they will. It'll increase profits for entertainment and travel/tourism industries.
So office workers will have three day weekends to shop/travel/go out and there will be more need for retail & restaurant workers to work more hours at low wages.
I can see politicians going for this.

Better Call Saul.
Jimmy's brother, Chuck, uses one of those emergency medical blankets to calm himself down when his phobia of electricity gets especially bad. He's also a gigantic ass who tries to prevent Jimmy from turning his life around at all costs, and builds most of the foundation of the Saul Goodman persona by doing so.

We do 4 days a week and Thursdays from home. 4 day weeks have been common for decades here.

we do 4 days at my factory.... 10 hours a day. only reason my shop did it was to avoid paying ot. they started a weekend shift which does 3 12 hr shifts and I see more places going this route. i wish I could only work 32 hours a week. I'm sure I wouldn't feel burnt out all the time

A bit late to the conversation, but I'm just posting to point out that this number is very misunderstood.
According to the most recent projections, 3.2 degrees of warming is the absolute worst-case scenario. It can only happen if the world does nothing at all to improve on the policies that currently exist... and even then, it's the higher estimate in a wide range of possibilities. But if states honor the pledges they made up to 2030, that'll bring us down to 2.6. And if they honor all of their announced pledges, we get 2.0.
These numbers represent a massive improvement over the status quo that existed less than a decade ago, when the worst-case scenario was 4 degrees Celcius and failure seemed inevitable. While the Paris Agreement might technically fail (we're still very unlikely to reach 1.5), activists in every sector have already made enormous progress. It got the ball rolling.
It's not a hopeless fight. Every little bit of progress equates to countless lives saved.

A year ago, I saw this post:
...and decided to set a reminder for a year’s time to check up on how this young couple, Yaryna Arieva and Sviatoslav Fursin, are doing.
I am pleased to see that they are still kicking. They’ve now left the volunteer defence force, Yaryna is learning to code, Sviatoslav graduated university, and they have a cat!

Well there’s already a train from Merced to Bakersfield (I’ve ridden it). There’s no train from Bakersfield to LA and none from Merced to SF or SJ. Either of those parts would be vastly more useful for people. Imagine being able to live in a cheap area and commuting to an area with some of the highest salaries in the country. Also LA and the Bay Area have some public transportation, Merced and Bakersfield have almost none. It will have lower ridership than either other route might have. I don’t see who is going to use going from Merced to Bakersfield on the regular

I know naysaying is an Internet sport, but I think the phase 1 delivery's getting a bit downplayed. Phase 1 is San Fan, San Jose, Fresno, Bakersfield, Burbank, L.A. and Anaheim. It's hardly nothing.

I dunno, I just get frustrated because people have bitched for decades about not having high-speed rail, and when a state actually does it they bitch about a 1500km long public works project being slow and expensive.
