Yeah. And if it were to ever finish (it won’t) it’s going to make it even harder for those of us who live outside of LA and the Bay Area to live and work where we do now. But sure, open the door to even more commuters making three or four times what we are so rent can go even further into the stratosphere.

And let’s say that capitalism loses (it won’t) and somehow the housing crisis is averted or resolved, your cute little bullet train is going to have so many goddamn stops, it’s going to be effectively worthless.

Take that 100+ billion, dump that shit into other public transportation infrastructure, build some affordable high density housing in places where’s it’s needed and start fixing this place.

Signed: someone who actually fuckin’ lives here and doesn’t buy for a fucking second this wasn’t ever a joke.

The wife and I were at ACL this year and saw this guy on a hot Sunday morning rocking out for his fans. His crowd wasn’t massive , but the fans that were there seemed to be having a great time and he was really engaged with them.

We weren’t even trying to see him. We just noticed the show on our way to another one and couldn’t help but respect him for putting on a great show for his fans

Think of the revenue from tourism. I’m in Southern California and would be spending weekends going up and down the coast if I could get to Northern California in three hours and I don’t have to drive. This project would payoff tenfold. I’ve taken scores of trains up and down all over Europe in the past 20 years but have only been on amtrack twice in the U.S. lived in L.A. all my life. It’s time to get this project done. I won’t enjoy it but my children will.

Touching story...

There's a GoFundMe for him someone linked. Can anyone confirm that's legit? (EDIT: IT IS LEGIT. See the link to it below, also added here)

Also, I hate that it's necessary to use stories like this to make it clear, but this is what Capitalism and a For-Profit Healthcare system does to people.

This is why we need, at a bare minimum, free government housing for the homeless and socialized medicine (Medicare For All and laws heavily restricting for-profit companies buying hospitals... And probably new, federally-funded hospitals in rural areas where there are gaps in hospital coverage...)

Anyways, I hope Cashman continues to receive help! I'd really appreciate it if anyone could confirm the validity of the GoFundMe (re-posted link below), as I'd like to donate if it's legit...

GoFundMe for Cashman:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/sheltering-hands-for-cashman?qid=648eed667d70fc655953d1af38ab855c

EDIT: Confirmed myself this was the correct, legit, GoFundMe, by checking it matched with the link in this Claremont Courier article. It's rather disappointing I had to do this myself, and nobody cared enough to step in and confirm the link (which would have, besides saving me time, been a way to get someone else invested in this story and maybe willing to help Cashman as well...) Am donating to the GoFundMe, and I hope others will do the same... If I can donate it in a currently very distressed economic situation (due to having Long Covid and being too sick to work, plus piles of Student Loans), so can you...
