We had a Chinese guy in boot camp who literally got to America 3 months before hand. Literally didn't speak a single word of English, no idea how he was allowed to join. And I don't even mean because of his ethnicity or anything. The country doesn't have an official language, but the military sure does because everyone needs to be able to communicate effectively in emergency situations

They’ve done something similar where profits were down & the ceo took a 50% pay cut to pay employees.

A spokesperson from Shell said they “do not accept ClientEarth’s allegations”.
“Our directors have complied with their legal duties and have, at all times, acted in the best interests of the company.”
Says nothing about the World, but does mention the Companies best interests. Hmm profits?

This is the best ELI5 about dogs ability to smell, I’ve been wondering how it works lately. My dog will pick up a scent and I can see the direction based on the prints in the snow but there’s no way he’s reading that but he’s always right…

IDK, this seems a little different. To me it looks like a way to get rid of the BOD and replace it with a more climate conscious group of leaders. This suit seems to be aiming at the current BOD personally, and is being brought by investors. I don't think it's looking to punish the company directly but to eliminate the current leadership.

Yeah. He spent the rest of his life there after that. Dad couldn’t bear to take him back to the Shelter seeing as how much effort he put into getting back home.

Business Judgement Rule. Like it or not, the BJR immunity is a virtually impenetrable shield. This case will get tossed unfortunately

You may not understand it. But most of us love this country, because we saw the before in our home countries. It's difficult but we do love this country. A shelter,a home, I wish I had the words, but for me as Mexican when I was allowed to travel I noticed how bad it is. I can call the cops,go to a hospital and even will be given free food, that's not the same in our home countries. First you pay ,and then you get help. That's it. This country took me in and I'll fight for it if needed. Idk if that makes sense.

That's awesome. Although. Isn't there a bizzare law where like shareholders can sue a company if they are not doing absolutely everything possible to maximise profit? Or something like that...

Democrats tried programs to give them citizenship, Republicans scrapped that during Trump. Similar with the DACa kids.

The board of directors will likely be fined far less than what they earned. Especially if politicians have anything to do with them.
Being paid off is much easier than waiting for approval and in many cases, far more affordable.
Unless shell is stripped of all their earnings from the last year… plus +10% in fines on top of it… we will see absolutely nothing happen but time being wasted.

Dogs can smell direction. No really, they smell in stereo with enough fidelity to determine age of scent. So just like our ears can hear which side is louder to get direction, they can tell which way is the newer/older smell and get direction of travel

I don’t know why but “a terrible betrayal” sums up a lot of our immigration history in my eyes, and this takes the cake. So glad this was rectified even for a few. It’s a truly joyous occasion to get citizenship.

Yeah, that's why you don't do legal stuff yourself (like writing or signing a contract without a lawyer). Contract in writing and isn't being fulfilled? That lawyer is going to cost the military a hell of a lot more than it would if they just gave you what you were promised.
