I don't get how people cant respect things for their natural beauty and put aside the thought of the money they could make, stupid of them to even try putting a coal mine there.

Not to say i support coal mines and especially not next to something as important as the great barrier reef, but yall need to remember that 3rd world countries exist. Its easy for someone from a developed nation to say the coal industry should just die, but for many countries its all they have. They are developing and given 50-100 years coal will hopefully be entirely phased out but as it stands now many countries NEED coal because its all they can realistically use to generate power.

No shit - anyone who has half a brain cell. Its always just been a doom-and-gloom story spewed out by some loud idiots. Just like we see with a lot of things today and a lot of things in the past.

Learning moderation is a super valuable life skill. I’m letting my kids game as much as they want. But I’m also teaching them the downsides of not setting limits for themselves. If they stay up all night, don’t do their chores, etc., there will be consequences in their lives that they will suffer.

The entirety of adult life is a game of self control. I view it as a learning opportunity for them. Hopefully my strategy works out 🤷‍♂️

The state of coal mining companies in Australia is so fucked that not building a coal mine that would affect our already destroyed reef is uplifting news. Fuck Clive palmer, fuck Rio Tinto, fuck Adani. It's fucked up but I'm pleasantly surprised that they put a stop to this one. I hope this becomes a precedent for future mining projects
