So much amazing music out there! When you get in that "let's catch this unknown band for 10 bucks" mentality, not only are you getting to see a new act in their prime, you never know when you're doing the equivalent of getting to catch the next Nirvana before they get discovered.

I saw all the best 70s and 80s bands in their prime and I'd much rather go catch 20 new bands for the price it costs to get nose bleed seats for a Metallica concert now.

I remember a friend introducing me to this back in HS (this was decades after it was released) and it, as well as several other Zeppelin albums, became our default adventure/day trip music. Of course the magic part was that if we were heading towards the coast we'd literally have to travel to "Over The Hills and Far Away" to get to "The Ocean"—and if there wasn't a lot of traffic the trip take the entire duration of the album give or take a song. You couldn't ask for a better soundtrack.

> Could you please explain me how, for example, a contralto, a mezzo and a soprano could all reach a B5 in their own voices

Who says they can? (I.e., you need to ask whoever it was said they could.) (And how else would they do it except in "their own voices"? ;-))

Soprano can get a few notes beyond B5.
It's right at the top of mezzo-soprano, but they could probably get it.
Most contraltos would struggle (it's a 4th above their "official" top note); I expect some could do it, although it probably wouldn't sound too good.

I like him enough, but what really makes me love him is the quotation "I'm perpetually next to a radio asking "what is this shit?" And the answer is always the red hot chili peppers"

They're my favorite band but that's fuxking hilarious.

I often wonder about this. I first saw Nick play as The Birthday Party back in the early 80s. I've been a fan ever since. Over the years, I'm in my late 50s now, I've become increasingly aware of the huge and diverse fanbase and have opined, to my wife, that of all the bands/artists I saw in the early 80s, I would not have bet a single penny on Nick Cave being in the position he is in now! He's pretty much a natural treasure in the UK.

It's well deserved, but still a bit of a puzzle...

Hey I just have to say thank you for posting this. This post caused me to go to Nick's website, where I noticed that the presale is currently underway for his fall North American tour! Just bought my tickets.
