Tamper the anxiety and enjoy the show. Nobody is going to be paying any attention to you. I'm saying this as someone who used to think that way. Let loose, dance, sing what you know and have a great time

Looking for new prog artists.
I also found your post to be a very well written and though provoking take on why music is the way it that it is lately

Listen to Barkmarket. Start with “The Visible Cow,” “I Drown”, “Dig In,” Falling,” “Feed Me” and “Redundant”. I find that their singer/guitarist Dave Sardy (who incidentally went on to become one of the biggest rock engineer/producers of the last quarter century) has an uncanny knack for articulating indignance and righteous anger. His lyrics can be a bit inscrutable, but that kind of helps, because you can imagine that he’s directing his vitriol toward your annoyance of choice. And the music absolutely slaps; super heavy, like Zeppelin meets The Jesus Lizard. Oh, and their drummer’s name is Rock Savage. Need I say more?
Other stuff: “Exactly What You Wanted” and “Like I Care” by Helmet (coincidentally produced by Sardy). Two great sonic middle fingers.
Old school: Big Black. One of the most deliciously misanthropic bands of all time (led by Steve Albini, pre super-producer career).
Play them all VERY LOUDLY. Enjoy.

Long ago at a Garth Brooks concert, for one song he just played guitar alone on stage and let the audience sing the words. It was neat, but generally, individual audience members aren't expected to know every lyric. Some songs are more singalong than others.

I was listening "As I sat Sadly by Her Side" to bits just yesterday. His music is phenomenal and meaningful in their own way

32 year old nursing home administrator / social worker in Chicago. Love Nick Cave and just got tickets to his show at the Auditorium Theatre in September.
My wife nearly walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Into My Arms, but that was nixed shortly beforehand when the church’s main musician wasn’t available.

...you do realize they probably said the exact same thing about punk rock in the 90s, right?

just wanna preface this, not trying to hate on u or anything, i just wanna give u some stuff to broaden your horizons a bit
i could go over a bunch of stuff in ur argument that i strongly disagree with, but instead i'll give u a few suggestions of modern music (most of which is very popular) that i think you might, at the very least, appreciate
- "currents" by tame impala
- "to pimp a butterfly" by kendrick lamar
- "random access memories" by daft punk
- "plastic beach" by the gorillaz
- "igor" by tyler, the creator
- "awaken, my love!" by childish gambino
- "year of the snitch" by death grips
- "untrue" by burial
all of this music appeals to me personally and i hope you'll find something that u like c:
