Kind of Blue was my instant thought, but even Miles Davis has an earlier on with Birth of the Cool (1957)
But Frank Sinatra's In the Wee Small Hours (1955) is the earliest I can think of.

I used to be in her book club from ages of 1-5 years old when I started to read, I love her for that. Jolene is also an amazing song, I don't really listen to her, but my mom does, so I hear songs from her like that, and they're actually pretty good :)

Brilliant album and what a barn-storming opener it has, The Song Remains The Same

I think Frank Sinatra belongs in this group, but couldn't think of which album to go with. I like your choice.
Glen Gould's Bach: The Goldberg Variations was huge and is probably a good contender for a classic classical album from the 50s.

I live in Northern Ireland, and this album cover is as close to the giants causeway as I've ever been

I feel like some singles might get better, but overall album quality will drop because you have to change it up. You don't want to write the same song over and over which makes it difficult (especially after how many songs he's written) to stay consistent. I enjoyed the cracker Island single, haven't given the whole album a shot yet but I will. I'll say a large part of this perspective is definitely personal taste, you could argue about whether it is "technically better" but you'll like what you like.

Frank Sinatra's Come Fly With Me (1958) is a great addition to the Elvis self titled and Kind of Blue that have already been named
Although if we really want to stretch the definition of "album" you could say that the oldest one that the average Joe would have heard of is probably Bach's Symphony 1 or something like that

I think was to fill up space left the song "Houses of the Holy," which was supposed to be the title track. They saved it for "Physical Graffiti." If HOTH had stayed on the album, it would, legit, have arguably been the best LZ album.
