yeah, i wasn’t sure “melancholy” was a genre either. i already have some elliot smith on my list, and i’ll check the rest of these guys out. i listened to a few moby albums (not sure which ones, he’s jumping in the album art of one of them i think) and nothing really stuck out to me. smashing pumpkins rules, so does tame impala.

Who tf do you think you are Syd Barrett? I love psychedelic substance/music/art with a passion however this to me sits somewhere in between pompous bullshit and boring drivel. This is coming from a fellow musician with a very open mind about music and an appreciation for creativity regardless of my own personal taste.

My top 3 would be, Moe Bandy Mountaineers by Jason Lytle (which was kinda made as a joke but whatever), Love or Money by Kristian Bush, and Barstool Mountain by Moe Bandy

I think most artists DON’T tend to get better after 20+ years, or at least after they’ve hit their creative heyday. Damon’s had skin in the game since the 90s, and most of the best 2000s bands I can think of just don’t even hold a candle to their old stuff. Seems like a pretty natural progression of artistry tbh.

Also what about Song Machine? That was pretty fire.

I think he was maybe one album away from being at like a Ben Harper level of fame, but alas.

Before covid every Lana's album was a new Era, has it's own sound and atmosphere. This post-covid Lana released 3 albums that sound like one loooong song. But yeah, artists are evolving.

I wouldn't play any music, tbh.
