I would fall asleep to Skinny Puppy’s “Too Dark Park” (not metal I know) my mom called it Nightmare Music. I slept just fine.

You can do this pretty easily in Audacity, turn up or down treble or bass. Done it a number of times on my mp3s to correct the tone.
