It's interesting that it wasn't that band they mentioned. Rather, the Rolling Stone mobile recording truck. The Stones commissioned it, but it became so popular that it became a business used by many bands in the early 70s. Deep Purple was waiting their turn to use it when a fire started during the Zappa concert. It was caused by a fan with fireworks. Thus the storyline of Smoke. Btw DP used the truck to record Machine Head, Burn & Stormbringer

A person who needs to put another person down to feel good about themselves is called a bully. Bullies are all insecure. Hence, they need another person they can intimidate to feel strong. Vincent is not a friend, and he is just using you as an accessory to validate his little self. You are worth more than that. And you do not need somebody like him around who constantly makes you feel bad and wanna have to prove yourself as valid. You do not need to prove anything to anyone. You always have a choice to walk away from people who don't make you happy. The sooner you allow yourself to embrace that the happier life you will live.

—counting crows do this on their song “monkey” from recovering the satellites in 1996; it references ben folds.

—“Got nowhere but home to go / Got Ben Folds on my radio right now / I’m in trouble for the things I need / Hey monkey don’t you want to be needed too?”

such a great song off of an even greater -and rather under appreciated- record.

There’s nothing wrong with listening to ‘90’s music but you should explore more. There more music made today than there ever was in the past. There’s much more than just rap.

Move beyond top 40 and look for indie bands. You’ll be happily surprised. I have a 15 year old daughter that also loves Queen but also listen to current bands.

Eddie Money’s “Take Me Home Tonight” not only name-drops Ronnie Specter (“Just like Ronnie sang…”), but actually got Ronnie to sing the part “be my little baby… baby my darling…”, although not the same melody as the Ronnettes’ version.

It might be a phase, you could try to wait it out but damn it sucks that Vincent would go so far as to say your music taste is trash just because its not Conan Gray...

Edit: also, you shouldn't be ashamed. Everyone has different tastes like you said, Vincent thinking that Conan Gray is the best isust his own opinion.
