Even though they aren’t the Beatles the amount they have evolved and changed sonically is astounding. The started out pop rock and r&b covers then made one of the first proto-punk songs and then created rock operas. Unfortunately their later work is not as great but the first several albums alone are great and innovative. The first album not innovative but some of the songs and the non album singles are pretty good imo.

Nice. I will say he's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. But in the works of Frank Zappa "About Holdsworth, Zappa once said, “Well, there’s one other guy whose work I know should be included in that list who I respect and that’s Allan Holdsworth,” when asked about his favourite players."
