Reply to Heat Pump not as advertised by Suspicious_Bus_4058
Did you get a Mr. Cool brand heat pump? Because those are garbage. Had a friend that bought one online from Mr. Cool, and it just ran like crazy, power bill went way up and then it died.
We have two Daikin pumps and they work great. 3100 sq ft house is heated well, we have a oil boiler we really use for hot water now. Its only been a few weeks, but they have handled the cold well.
We've got solar so we banked tons of credit last summer, so our CMP bill is steady at $13.73/month every month.

>I’ll just teach them it’s not possible to be trans so that way they’ll stay within the normal rate for suicide.
You sound just like a fundamental christian that has decided they will "just teach their kids not to be gay".
You say you are an evolutionary biologist? LOL, I HIGHLY doubt you have much past a highschool education. You are sitting here trying to deny science and reality and medical consensus and medical treatment like some backwoods hillbilly. "Aint no kids gonna be no transosexuals on mah watch!!!" lol
>I have a problem with people saying it’s ok for kids to be on hormones/hormone blockers and that it’s okay for kids to have top/bottom surgery.
Oh? You imagine yourself some hero trying to stop children from having proper medical treatment? No, that makes you a dangerous psychopath.
You are KNOWINGLY trying to kill children out of some political agenda. A fascist that wants to use the state to step between medical professionals and a childs medical care.... what you are trying to do should be criminal.
You want to stick your head in the sand and deny the entire medical field and study and best practices for care of trans people out of some insane political agenda.
You are some random shlub that read a few fox news articles and now thinks you are an expert on trans care, more so than the entire field of medicine around the world.
And you are too simple to have even a shred of self awareness to realize how ridiculous a stance that is.

German shepherds come next. Aggressive breeds used by cops then put back into society always ends well.

I’m probably not thinking my comment through so I’m going to politely back out of this thread before this goes any further.

There used to be two derelict ships to the right of the bridge, probably after this photo was taken.

Renting is a thing, making some sacrifices is a thing, not living in the perfect house in the most desirable area is a thing. If I can afford children in Seattle on a much lower household income then it can be done in much more affordable Maine.
The most expensive part of a kid is daycare. It doesn't last all that long year wise. Sure it'll eat into your disposable income but having kids involves sacrifices. It's the same as I can't go out to the bars on the weekend because I have to be a parent.

Pit bulls (along with some other breeds) need additional training and support during their lives. They are not “family dogs”. We should restrict what type of people can acquire certain breeds.

Definitely worth checking out. Got my first set of appliances there for a great deal (15ish years ago now but still) and the fridge had a minor dent on the side that was only noticeable if you went looking for it and you couldn't even find the issue on the stove.

More people have goldens. That stat is skewed a bit. Deaths caused by dog attacks- pit bulls take the cake by far. Roddies are a far second

Yeah exactly. Same thing after being nipped by my friend’s German shepherd as a kid. The dog released right away. I think some people on here who think it’s just the ‘media’ that try and make out pit bulls bad should venture over to that sub Reddit ‘ban pit bulls’ and see the damage they can do. Doesn’t matter whether they come from a good or bad home.

It really isn't. Try to have kids and buy a house in Southern Maine in the 2020s. You can do it with less but you'll either be house poor, not saving for retirement, and/or not have any expendable income.

This is a great suggestion - I got an essentially new LG washer from Bangor ReStore a few years back for a really fair price. Still using it.
