Buying physical media has been on a downward trend for a long time. Covid accelerated people shopping online instead of in person. An in person physical media store is a pretty rough business in 2023.

Haven’t heard of that. Is it in Bangor?

Electric for sure. I don’t really like coffee, most of it is pretty gross and it just seems like an unnecessary money pit to me. I used to get a mocha coolatta like once every two years but that’s it.

Makes sense. Glad to hear the others are doing well. I should get down to Waterville sometime. There used to be a couple good record stores. Bangor seemed to have a long time manager for quite a while. Wonder if he got done.

Went there last summer and was quite disappointed in the vinyl selection. Really like the Vinyl Canteen.

I actually just went to Dunkin for the first time in months today. I used to spend so much money on coffee, but since the pandemic I've almost exclusively made it at home.

Bangor and Lewiston Bull Moose locations have seen better days. It must be location or local management based, because Waterville, Brunswick and Scarborough are really fantastic stores.

My first two thoughts are that they really took a hit from the lockdown or that the whole thing with employee control was an absolute disaster. But regardless, it’s sad to go in there these days.

It’s also my birthday today. 21st. Someone pay for the booze and I’ll knock it over again.

That's insane! I make my Dunkin' coffee at home. It's also ridiculously easy to make croissant sandwiches. I am not saying that I don't get drive thru on occasion (who doesn't love their little hash browns!), but over $3,000! That's the cost of a vacation! My money has gone to vet visits for the past few years, so that sort of convenience wouldn't be my sort of luxury.

The local library can help you with this.
For fashion take a look at 1975 high school and college yearbooks.

Sure looks like it, Main St goes up & slightly left across the bridge. This view would be looking east from in front of where Rooster Brother is now

Thanks! Good food is important to me, and pretty much everywhere in Maine has that covered, but James Beard caliber is awesome!

I stayed there 2 years ago and loved the mill area on the river. I haven't seen a ton of properties for sale there and figured I'm a little too late to the party, but yes, I'll definitely investigate further!

One thing you might consider is where you’ll live. Maine has a sort of rental crisis right now. Hard to find affordable apartments

I mean if you call it $3500 over 365 days last year that’s like $9.60 a day at Dunkin
Which isn’t great by any means but that’s basically an average of a large coffee, breakfast sandwich and tax every day

I'm not sure either one is particularly "artsy" or "cultural" but they're both plausible choices based on what you've said. Go take a look.
