Weird.

I have two dogs and they are in my kitchen all the time. I've never gotten sick.

Agreed. I think many commenting don’t truly understand where this is being proposed. There are many other parts of town, even close to Main St, it would be fine, but not that corner lot next to town hall.

Not against the project, but NOT on that specific unique lot.

Those opposed are absolutely correct.

Exactly. Yarmouth just allowed one of these buildings to be constructed on Main St. This is the list price for a single unit. They aren't intended for younger people. They're intended for well off people to get a place in Yarmouth. Maine absolutely does not care about affordable housing.

I think it's more unsanitary when people pick and choose vegetables and fruits with their bare hands. Any how mama always said wash your fruits and vegetables when you get home.

Just stop. Stop supporting breeders… there are so so many dogs in shelters that are plenty trainable dogs, that people continue to turn a blind eye to.. did you not just see the news paper article about a breeder and customer fighting over a dog due to breeding “rights”, the breeder claimed the customer who bought a dog from her cost her $250,000 by her their dog they paid for, spayed. Do people not see how sick that is, that people are willing/capable of making $250,000 from breeding out ONE DOG. Force breeding the dog for a quarter million in profit… stop supporting breeders, such a disgusting “profession” to be apart of.

Everyone on here: History/Parking Lots/NiMBYs vs aFForDabLe hOuSIng....REEeeeEeEee WTF!!!!!!

Actual issue: History/Parking Lots/NiMBYs vs Market/above market Luxury 'Housing'

At best this project, if successful, will simply help raise the median rents in Freeport and provide a luxury option for new Maine arrivals with their out of state income and larger economies of scale provided equity reserves.

Nothing about this project will support directly, or even indirectly, housing affordability for lower, lower-middle, or even middle income earners already living working in the area.

I am ambivalent to this project, but misrepresenting or ignoring the actual facts is really pretty lame regardless of what side you fall on.

Those resisting this are correct. It is against zoning, and the zoning is appropriate in this case.

It is the absolute wrong use for that parcel of land.

It is a terrible location for it. Further up or down Route 1, NOT downtown would be appropriate.

The town should purchase the lot and make it a park. That could host local farm market and artists. To take advantage of the visitors to town.

Definitely not something store employees should have to deal with. That's a task for a manager. And really, I think fellow customers should call people out on it if the dog is being troublesome. Of course these days, you never know who is carrying a weapon or who will run you down in the parking lot.

I worked at Hannies for years and we were always told to not even bother confronting people with dogs unless the dog was causing a problem because people would just claim it was a service animal (even if it clearly wasn’t) and mangers just didn’t wanna deal with the fight/negative publicity.
