Maine had that 3 years ago and then Covid happened. I closed on my house almost 3 years ago and it is now worth $100,000 more.

I was the first time home buyer and my house had been on the market for almost 5 months before I made my offer and houses now in my area sit on the market for maybe 3 weeks before they go pending and this is the slow time for the market.

It's going to be really interesting to see what the market looks like come summer but I predict it's not going to get better.

And these are the same idiotic Mainers that can't understand why the younger generation leaves.

I've been in Maine 20 years and all the old timers do, is bitch and moan, but when you propose change that will benefit them. They'll scream and shout like toddlers till they get their way and it never happens.

Because we have something people are abusing that the rest of society doesn't have the guts to stand up to.

"Its my service animal."

No, it isn't. Service animal actually means something.

$3000 is probably going to become more of the norm for an ethically bred pure bred dog that has both parents genetically screened with good temperaments. Between everyone wanting a dog since the pandemic and inflation breeders are going to be charging more for their pups. It’s also a good way for breeders to screen out for what kind of homes they want to send their pups to. I used to know a breeder whose thought process was that if someone can’t afford to pay the price they charged for one of their pups then they didn’t want them going to that house cause what if they needed emergency vet care, would they fork up the money needed for it? Not saying it’s right or wrong, just giving another perspective.

I have been wondering as well. Acid rain specifically generated from coal plants in Ohio wound up here in the 90’s. It was reported on consistently and I took a class on it in college. I need to look at the jet stream and other contributing factors but if I think Maine specifically could actually receive more of the pollution than Ohio.

When I see a dog in the store, I report it to the manager. An establishment can be fined for allowing non-service dogs in stores/restaurants where they aren't allowed because it's a health hazard. Also, people, including children, have been attacked by dogs in stores. You should post a negative review about the store in question and/or contact the business owner.

Here in Maine we don’t have a large amount of shelter pets. Often times puppies that are in shelters and rescues are bought from puppy mills in the south and trucked here to sell. OP also said they wanted a show dog standard which will be near impossible to find in a shelter. Ethical breeding is not the problem here.

As someone who works at one of these stores and makes minimum as long as the dog isn’t trying to bite anyone or is licking all the produce and food, pretty much most don’t mind I really don’t get paid enough to tell someone that plus I feel like a jerk doing so
