I started with pascal, basic, and to a lesser extent asm when I was child in the 80. Asm was really helpful to understand at a low level how a computer actually works. Then I started learning c++ as a teen. Now it doesn't take long at all to pick up a new language. I agree with other posters to focus on the math. But learning c++ and then python would be my suggestion. That being said, you will be forced to use python while taking your class and doing self study. Might as well just learn both.

Best part: GPT 4.0 will have the ability to scan documents...

All the people building second layer Apps before the next release...

I bet we see an explosion of AI-API microservices after every GPT release (or other chatbots with an API) that get redundant after updates..

Possibly, I guess, but how would you or anyone else know? Wu Dao 2 is like a mythical beast, like the Loch Ness Monster, that we catch blurry glimpses of and that’s it.

Also, even suppose Wu Dao 2 is SOTA despite no one being able to confirm that (trust me bro!). The problem is it was trained by just copying what Google and OpenAI had published and trying to just scale up what they did. I’m not sure I would call that a “leader in the space” if you have no clue how to make any innovations yourself, so you wait for someone else to publish an innovation and then you just copy it and try to scale it up.

Yeah, I completely agree. There are a few different ideas floating around here, specifically I was referencing the original comment that said it may make open source AI all but impossible to create/maintain in accordance with the EU.

AI can be such a great tool, and it certainly needs regulation. But regulation which would serve to consolidate AI into the hands of the wealthy/powerful would be an absolute travesty.

You should look at audio networks. I'm not very familiar with recent work in this area, but one reasonable idea is to produce a spectrogram from the data and use an image detector on it.

1d CNNs are also a thing, although I think it's more challenging for them to have frequency/scale invariance.

Just FYI, the CTO of OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT is of the opinion that there should be regulation of AI:

Do you think these questions should be left to companies like yours, or should governments get involved in creating regulations?

[CTO of openAI] It’s important for OpenAI and companies like ours to bring this into the public consciousness in a way that’s controlled and responsible. But we’re a small group of people and we need a ton more input in this system and a lot more input that goes beyond the technologies-—definitely regulators and governments and everyone else.”

C++ is optional. It has its benefits but isn’t strictly necessary. The bulk of ML is calling functions from libraries which do the hard part for you. The part of python you really need to know is how to use the existing libraries. That is the bare minimum to do ML

hasn't been a priority for us unfortunately, focus is on the product. Sorry, need basic contact info to start (we need some form of identity incase there's nefarious use of models). Free for now, 500 credits when you sign up to generate decks, images, and text alternatives / rewrites.

Can't download presentations yet, so no surprise popups :) but when we do build that in, you'll be able to take your work with you freely.

Mate, I checked out your website and there is not nearly enough info before asking me to sign up. The video is great. It looks like a super cool tool, and I’d be interested in trying it out, but I don’t want to give you my contact info and go through an intake process before even knowing what I’ll get. As OP asked - is it free? Am I going to spend the time using your platform to make a presentation just to be hit with a surprise “subscribe now to download your presentation” at the end? These are the sorts of questions the keep me from even trying it.
