I used to work at a deli and we sold stroopwaffles. A customer told me that if you put one on top of a cup of hot coffee the moisture causes it to fluff up (this is not true, by the way). But for the next year or so I told that to other customers without checking myself. Finally, one customer said "have you ever tried it?" and I was an idiot and said yes. He knew I was lying.

I still lose sleep over that to this day.

I largely ignore ‘famous’ people because I simply do not care. (Except Keanu Reeves because he’s awesome) but I occasionally come across these ‘people’ in my line of work. I love the look of horror on the faces of their handlers when I ask ‘who?’ To their attempts at big noting.

Not really. He kept it hidden for a while. For a long time he was this cool "inventor/visionary" persona liked by everyone across the political spectrum. Then over the last 3 years the truth came out.

Risk, reward, consequence… your reward is you get to your destination a few milliseconds quicker. The risk is unpredictable behaviour from the other party resulting in a crash. The consequence is a potentially hefty repair bill, injury; and being very late to your destination.

Don’t just assume. Always better to be absolutely sure before you make a manoeuvre, it’s just not worth the risk.
