How about "no"? Furthermore, not requiring of others to go out of their comfort zone when you yourself wouldn't, would be nice. You might have missed the point, so I'll emphasize it for you: You are relying on an external recording media instead of actually training your memory and are asking others to enable your habits instead of working on yourself.

Why don’t you want to be in pictures?

Reply to LPT request: Self Harm by AndyFromBoysClub
I used self harm years ago as a coping mechanism. The scars are only the symptom. I’d simply concentrate on knowing them as well as you can and being helpful with anything they go through.

People that are “against pictures” or “don’t like being in pictures” are so strange to me

Spray w/Scotchgard fabric protectant (protects against fluids and stains) and drape a nice afghan/throw blanket over the back of it. Buy or make some arm rest covers asap since those seem to get the grungiest first and can easily be removed and thrown in w/laundry. A couple of throw pillows leaned against arms add a little decor as well as arm protection. Most couch seat cushions come w/zippered covers than can be removed and laundered, but you really don't want to do that very often- fabric can shrink and become discolored after washing. Vaccuum under cushions periodically- crazy the stuff that builds up under them! Try to limit food and beverages to dining area as much as reasonably possible. Of course most people enjoy snacks and drinks while watching tv, but better to eat that plate of spaghetti at the kitchen table- lol.

Yes, but they are typically in the back, out of sight, whereas my hand is always on my purse. Still better than shirt or back pocket.

Been a photographer since my early adulthood. Everyone in the family wanted, for years, for me to bring my camera to events. Now I have lovely pictures of every family event for a decade plus, except I'm in basically none of them. At least I've got something, but I'd love more pictures of me and my dad to remember him by.

That doesn't work if other people listen to them, and then those people decide that I am a groomer who needs to die

I'd like to append "at least twice if not more" to this excellent LPT.
A lot of people do something and instantly rush to report it to LifeProTips as must-have advice... when experts in that thing just wince and roll their eyes at how often it turns out to be massively counterproductive.
I'm a business consultant and routinely destroy bad advice here, not out of meanness, but because it's just such BAD advice, and if it leaves a positive impression on some people it could hurt them. Ditto stuff that reinforces social anxieties instead of facing or actually managing them (with the most common of these suggesting stupid lies to avoid social situations).
Often the advice is from someone who either thinks it makes sense (when it sometimes just doesn't), or it worked for them out of some freak coincidence. Either way, it's not a LPT the vast majority of the time, and in some respects can cause actual damage if followed.

my wife just got hired for this exact same reason last week. Got offered a job she had no experience directly doing because she has a great personality, is task oriented and super organized.

>Get over what? I don't fear being in pictures, I just don't want to.
Whatever weird personal issue makes avoiding being in pictures seem like a worthwhile pursuit to you. This advice isn't for people who just don't actively pose for pictures. It's for people who actively avoid being in any pictures at all. Your friends and family are trying to create keepsakes and reminders of the time they spent with you, actively avoiding that is a dick move.

The real solution is obvious: Just don't die. That way people can remember you and no photos are needed.

I don't mind people taking my picture so much as having to deal with posing for the picture. Just take your goddamned picture and let me eat my freakin' potato salad.

If they care more about photos than my well being when I'm actually spending time with them, then yes, fuck them.

Damn do you just hate people who don't want to be in pictures. Because you are the one that seems like you have a weird personal issue against people that don't want to be in pictures
