More people like a specific type of music than have been to concerts.

Properly filled book shelves on the walls (like the BILLY from IKEA) can help as well. Doesn't matter, whether it is loaded with books or boxes - the thickness of material in front of the wall is the decisive factor.

Unless someone DOES have very specific taste, I think who your favorite musician is isn't so easy to answer. There is so much talent to choose from, It's not easy for me to answer that one.

I would reconsider IT. A WFH job will still require you have childcare. It’s not really possible to care for an infant and WFH without additional help.
If that doesn’t turn you off, will need more info on what aspect of “IT” you are interested in. In quotes because IT tends to be a separate field from SWE these days.
The tech market is saturated with experienced software engineers who are unemployed from major layoffs. It’s hyper competitive and a rough time to jump in. You’ll need a plan, some mentorship, and be willing to take a less than ideal job to make this jump.

No it has to do with the volume. People usually talk extra loud on speakerphone and have the volume up extra loud. It's distracting to the ear versus hearing two people talking next to you.
I also remember reading once that scientists tried to study why we also find people who talk on the phone in public annoying. I remember them determining it had to do with our brain not liking only hearing one side of a conversation. I think it's just because people never talk with the same volume on the phone as in person. They are regulating their volume for someone who is not there and it rarely jives with ambient noise in the space they are in.

Congratulations on your little one!
I am so glad for you both.
I am sorry that Dad has decided to abandon you and that he will miss out on fathering, which is one of life's greatest treasures.
If you hold him financially responsible you may be able to take this precious, foundational time with your child. And maybe you can share this with your family or his.
Working from home isn't a complete solution, but I hope you find the answers that you need.

Blankets or some other sound dampening fabric on the walls like in theaters.

That’s cool and all but it’s not a life pro tip. Maybe more for a motivational sub or something
It’s like saying breathing should be an LPT

The definition of the forum is ‘Tips that improve your life one way or another’. The tip may be somewhat general and maybe a little abstracted from a specific action but it was meant to bring self awareness to the fact each of us can have a positive impact on others and you can use it as such. If improving and enriching other people’s lives doesn’t improve your own, then I feel sorry for you.

In very rare years you could also have 27 cheques (if January 1st was a pay day or January 2nd and it’s a leap year).

Highly recommended. Get the Feeling Good handbook and actually do the stupid exercises. Also, you might be able to get some help through NA. Meetings, a sponsor.
As you know, the way you are thinking now is a threat to your sobriety.

AITA?
It really irritates me when people are on speaker even in public areas. It irritates me so much that I try to figure out why I'm irritated and aside from the trebly sound and stupid look of it, I can't come up with a great reason.
If I'm at a bar, or airport, or coffee shop what is the difference of someone on speakerphone talking to a friend and someone talking to a friend that's sitting on the other side of the table? Is it principle? I hate it!

Rotating also allows for new stuff to build up. For example disney hasn’t put anything good out for a few months.

Hanging heavy carpets on the walls would probably be much easier.
