Do you live somewhere that has had a quick shift in temperature? I’m in the Midwest US. It was warm yesterday and snowing today. The big shifts in temp often cause the framing in the walls to contract quickly and cause a loud almost shotgun like sound. Startles me every time.

A pet isn’t an accessory. It’s a being you’re going to spend years living with. If you’re more focused on its looks than its personality, you’re setting the whole thing up for a bad time.

I have very little patience for people who treat animals like possessions and then don’t understand why their animals have bad behavior. This LPT is a recipe for some oblivious person to get, like, an apricot goldendoodle and then keep it in a crate all the time because they don’t know how to train it and it pees on their beautiful couch.

Talk to your doctor. Tell them meditation doesn’t help all the time. I’ve suffered from severe panic attacks for most of my life. What helped me most is medication (but I wouldn’t turn to this first). I take an SSRI daily for the low level anxiety that’s always there and then a beta blocker (blood pressure med) for panic attacks. In the past I was prescribed benzos for panic attacks. I would try to avoid taking them but there is no shame if that’s what you end up needing.

I would first try the route of therapy, exercise and making sure to eat well. And get good quality sleep. Hope things get easier for you soon!

How? Why? It should show up in add/remove programs in control panel. Also, what kinda gamer would have been playing 70GB games 7 years ago, and/or never have reinstalled Windows or changes hardware in that time?

I think Treesize is better for Windows than WinDirStat these days.

Former picture framer here, u/QuOtak is spot on but I’d also add- if your picture gets any sunlight, UV glass will protect it from fading and spotting. It’s pretty expensive to frame correctly but it’s worth it for your important photos/art. Nothing would bother me more than seeing a family photo framed with regular glass and cardboard backing (not acid free). That family photo isn’t going to last. There are amazing scan/restoration services for situations like this, but again- good preservation work isn’t cheap and cheap preservation work isn’t good.

Look into biofeedback. It's good for in the moment, and you can do the exercises anytime. Find techniques that work for you, and do them. I give my system a direct order and am deliberately breathing and focusing on my heart beat while it works through. Be patient with yourself while your chemicals shift out of panic. It takes a few minutes. Don't know how else to explain that. It will pass, and you will keep on with your day.
