LOL, when my boys were little, I told them they couldn't have the heel, it was for grown ups only. That made them want it even more. I would finally relent, and let them have one, but only if they were good.

They would actually argue over who deserved the heel. I had to alternate who got it, and I always kept the first one for myself. I can't believe it worked as well as it did.

This is a harsh reality. We just found out my father has colon cancer. He was really constipated and ended up in the hospital. He was there for a week to have a stent put in so he could have bowel movements. He's supposed to get the tumor removed in two weeks, but he has never followed through with doctors. He says he's going to make sure to go, but I'm afraid he won't. He lives with us in my home, but there's only so much I can do to force him. I'm trying to accept that my father is mortal, bc I have always avoided thinking about it. All I can do is hope like hell he cooperates.

This works because robo calls or other forms of telemarketing use something called predictive dialing. Phone numbers are called by the system until they get a live person and then the call is handed off to an available agent. If you say nothing the system doesn't hand off the call - do this enough and your number may be deleted from their lists.

Um. Not really. Even if the discussion is only about opinions, especially if it is only about opinions, an unwillingness to even consider changing your opinion makes it a pointless discussion. Facts are not subject to change by discussion.

There is technically a new world order any time new world leaders are elected and change policy. I'll accept that as fact, though it isn't very meaningful to me. If you ascribe different meaning to "new world order", particularly outlandish conspiracy, I might need you to clarify whether our shared words have shared meaning. I may then need to retract a previous statement, assume you have a poor understanding of what facts are, and back away slowly as you shout at me.

That is slightly different from being unwilling to consider that I am wrong. It is the regretful acknowledgement that from now on, anything presented as fact by you will no longer receive the benefit of doubt. Your facts are tainted. I may however accept the same facts if presented by someone else in a careful, self consistent way that agrees with my observations and avoids common fallacies.
