The OP is suggesting you go further down than you were before. If you were sitting on the floor, sit back on the floor. If you were sitting on a chair, sit back on the chair.

I have Orthostatic Hypotension and the OP's advice is about as wrong as it gets.

As a physical therapy student, if you know you're going to be lightheaded/dizzy when you stand up, I would recommend doing some ankle pumps (like you're pressing on the gas pedal), seated marches (lifting each leg into the air while seated, one at a time), and/or leg kicks (kick one leg out a time). This can help get your blood flowing and (hopefully) avoid such symptoms from standing up. A squat like OP recommends probably works fine too, but my concern is a risk of falling over and maybe getting hurt if you get dizzy then do a squat. Depends on your symptoms and condition of course.

Also if this is happening to you all the time and it negatively affects you, please consider going to a Physical Therapist or your physician to get it checked out!

It's also beneficial backwards, to use that technique to stand up. Starting from a sitting position, put your hands on your knees, lean forward and slowly stand. To be extra safe, pause half way, in that head-at-heart level, before fully standing.

Just get in the habit of standing that way and I haven't had a light headed spell in years. People I know who get them shoot up from sitting down and it makes me cringe.

Yeah, work gossip is real. Another tip that goes along with this. Don't remember word for word but something like,

If someone at work is talking shit about others behind their back , assume they are talking shit about you too.

I learned about OPs tip about half a year ago, though it helped me in a positive way.

I was about to quit because I wanted(deserved) a raise because I wasn't making what I should've been.

I told two people exactly.. and then within that week, almost every other coworker confronted me about it, saying I hear you're quitting, and why and everything.

Then within about two weeks my boss comes to me saying the same, I hear you're quitting and then ask me why I was.

Talking went on and basically I got a pretty good raise out of it and decided to stay. I had previously inquired about making more money to him with no luck.

The fact that it took me almost quitting to get my raise is nonsense. Companies really don't wanna pay you shit, and give you the least they can.

Aim to go to bed early so you get the rest. I’ve started listening to huberman NSDR (non sleep deep rest) which actually makes me KO. When you wake up - don’t lie in bed just get up. It sucks trust me. Have a shower and end it on cold. It’ll suck for 30 seconds but BOY O BOY does it fucking feel good after

If you have time -. Meditate but otherwise the above helps for me

Just get out of bed immediately, ten mins of morning stuff is better than an extra ten mins rubbish sleep. On top of this you’ll have already overcome some initial hurdle by powering up.

Also have some kind of treat in the morning, maybe after a shower there’s a black coffee you like or something. Get your stuff ready the night before too. Be kind to future you instead of leaving them to do everything!

They should still be able to help you understand the process and what to expect to some degree, I would think? Even if it’s not them covering it, they can answer some questions I would assume. Idk, I’m from a no-fault state so our insurance always covers our own vehicles, even if not at fault.
