you can go far with xlookup, which gives some database functionality to a spreadsheet. the problem is you can go too far, trying to manipulate too much data from too many spreadsheets.... all those linked tabs etc

at that point you should learn Access and maybe SQL to handle the mass of data

I had a conversation with someone about this a while ago. I said, when I was first starting out in life, I would get paid, take care of my expenses, and then if I made it to the next check with any money left over, I'd mentally lock that money away. It didn't even go in another account, but it just wasn't spending money anymore, because I'd already proven I didn't need it. They said, "oh, when that happened to me, it meant I could spend all of the remaining money on garbage, because I'd already proven I didn't need it." Same exact line of thinking, opposite conclusion and action.

Also, if you ever want excel to do something for you just google a description of the problem or the outcome you want + excel. Odds are you will find several step by steps. Your boss will think you’re amazing.

Sidenote:

Excel was not intended for "big data". It doesn't have good ram management, and doesn't play very will with multiple cores/threads.

Listen when excel tells you that you are outgrowing its abilities.

I work 4am to 1230 pm shifts. My place is completely blacked out. You will adjust with time. Took a good year. Always try to go to bed on time. I refuse to take naps because they screw up my sleep schedule. Use sleeping pills sparingly for the nights you just don't feel tired. Avoid peer pressure to stay up later. Getting up at a weird time is no joke. Don't let your friends talk you Into be irresponsible with your rest period. Expect your social life to suffer, at least the first year

Your sleep needs to be consecutive hours, not broken into segments bc inevitably something will come up and you won't get your second segment. I've worked nights off and on for many years, and that's the best tip. Be strict about others not disturbing you. Otherwise, same as others have said, blackout curtains, white noise, DND on your phone.

Yeah I get you, I've made a habit of asking people that question as it's the reality for a lot of people where I'm from, and most people I know who state they live paycheck to paycheck are in that situation
